Just qualified for event #2 of the WCOOP (world championship of online poker) on pokerstars. $530 buy in and $1.5 million guaranteed on Sept. 17th. If i can, i might withdraw and use the $W to enter two events (that HORSE event is calling my name, though hold 'em is my best game i suppose...), but i'm not exactly sure how they work. Does anyone know? otherwise i'll just email support.

Also, I have to admit, i owe much of the qualifing win to what i've learned here on CC about playing satellites. so thanks to all. i'm gonna go have a beer and cool off:D :D :D

If you withdraw from the tourney you get $W equivalent to the buy-in. You can then spend these buying into tournaments up to the same value... alternatively there are some sites around which buy $W (although naturally you lose out some money on those deals... so avoid unless you really need the cash). Go for HORSE... it's bound to be a more interesting game...

Well done Nate, you seem to be on a roll in these lately. Go for the HORSE event, that game on Stars is bound to be full of donks who know little about the game. You can always get in some practice on FTP. If you need to do a transfer PM me.

Just to bear in mind, $W are not the same as $t. You can only use them to enter main events, but as starfall pointed out, you can always sell them.

thanks guys. fortunatly i have some time left to think about it. the only reason i want to play event #2 is because it'll be the 2nd biggest prize pool of the entire series (though it'll probably also be the biggest donkfest). So at least at this point my plan is to play it, and keep playing some satellites in the meantime, but no matter what i want to play the cheaper of the two HORSE events as well, maybe try for razz, hi/lo Omaha, limit hold 'em, short handed... we'll see. i'm looking forward to it already. also, here's the list of events if anyone's interested.

Congrats!! Don't let the size of the pot affect your play. Have a beer before you play!

as long as i don't have too many before i play...;)

hopefully i'll be able to play it like i normally would. that's why i'd like to play more then one event, so i'd know i won't have all my eggs in one basket.

Very nice Nate!
wow...how much have you bought in total in the satellites so far?
again congrats :)

one thing....I've seen them tons of times, but can't for the life of me figure out what they mean: what's a 'shootout'? A special kind of satellite or something?

i've spent maybe... $65 or $75... though i'll probably end up spending more

in answer to your second question, a shootout is like a multi-round SNG. The tables aren't balanced like in a normal tournament. You play until you eliminate all the players at your table, then you move onto the next round. a double shootout (like this one) has 2 rounds, but they can have more. pokerstars mainly runs them as satellites, but they also run them with regular payouts. hope that makes sense. i like them for satellites just because they don't take that long, and usually you'll make at least your buy in back for winning the first round, but they haven't been doing that in these.
