I understand that there's legislation in this state vs. online gaming. Does that mean that poker players in that state are blocked from online poker sites?

Not necesarilly

In theory yes. But I know plenty of people in WA playing online. I'm pretty sure that you'd need to be a big fish to get got.

I know a poker pro that I'm pretty sure most if not all of you know of. He lives not far away from me (in WA) and is sponsored by an online sight and plays there all the time. Never heard of him getting any flack.

Washington is already freakin boring, if they get rid of online gambling no citizens will want to live there

The law, although it includes players, is mainly targeted at gambling website operators.

Most sites do not block WA players. Doyle's Room does geoblock the state, however, and US-based fee-to-play sites like Spade Club don't allow residents to sign up.

Many thanks to those who've responded to my question. It's not that I'm contemplating a move to WA. Just trying to anticipate what might happen to Alabama poker players if the pending bill (which, I understand, may give states the option to ban online poker) becomes law. We can't even have state lottery here or be able to buy liquor on Sundays before noon.

Washington state has had this so called ban on online poker for over 2 years now. It is absolutely impossible to regulate this, especially in this economy with state budget cuts they have nobody looking over this. It is one of those don't do it, but we aren't really watching sort of laws. I've played for the last couple years and even cashed a couple checks and nothing has ever happened. Watch this years wsop on ESPN and you will see a online poker player from Seattle.

Here is the actuall law, by the way. It states in here that they don't monitor the players they monitor the sites, so if they seize information from a site and find a player from WA State they will send a warning letter, then punishment. They need to recognize poker as a game of skill and take it out of this bill, the accept online horse playing as a game of skill so I can't see why poker is in this.

That would be crap if anyone got banned from online gambling, hopefully congress will realize poker is more of a game of skill than luck and it will be fully legalized.

Read your attachment -- very interesting. Didn't know that Internet gambling was legal in "the Great Britain" and "Dominion Republic." Lol. Really bright.:D

I live in Al...they do allow horse & dog racing...some Bingo...but they will probably ban it all, if our Governor has his way!
