OK people.....

I would like to sue an online poker place.....

1) They are not listed in the US

2) They have no phone number you can call unless it's regarding deposit, then they have an 1-800 you can call!

3) No where on their website can i find ANY address unless it's an email

4) Their support claims to be 24/7......but i haven't heard from them in 2 months

5) Im not no BIG NAME poker player.....can't afford a BIG TIME lawyer.....I asked my small time lawyer friend.....he just tells me to kiss my money goodbye.

Does this sound like you?? or VERY similar??

PLEASE no responses like

1) WTF
2) oh that sux
3) which place is this?
4) oh ur so fxxkxx

thank you

It will take a lot on your part to do it. First off you need to find out where they are based. Then you need to find out who the CEO's are. You might be able to go after the CEO's in their homelands if different than the site's registry. You will need to hire a lawyer from that area. After that it is up to the lawyer to take your case forward.

Basically what your lawyer friend said is true. Unless you are looking at big bucks it will not be worth the time or effort. You would be better off mounting a smear campaign against them at all poker forums. Time consuming, but free.

oh okay mine is no too then.

oh and it's pretty obvious that the site is FT seeing as you've complained about them in 75% of your posts. if you want any sympathy here you will have to be a little more forthcoming with information than you have been in the dozen or so posts in which you've complained about them thus far. pasting e-mails, giving your screenname on FT and how you deposited and intended to withdraw would be a start.

I would be more worried about them taking your personal information and doing something really bad with it. The money......let it go. If you have credit card information or bank account numbers I would seriously consider getting them changed, yeah it's a pain but will be minor if someone decides to steal your ID.

not sure what you are asking, but to take on a large poker site ( who has a small army of lawyers on hand) is pointless to get back the 50$ that you lost from suck outs. IMO i think its all rigged

Thanks for telling us how we can or can not respond to your post.

My suggestion is if youre not a "Big Name Poker Player" then it would probably cost you more to pursue this than you have invested already. Look for different avenue other than this law suit.

Hate to say it but I agree with the rest... really too much investment (time and money) for too little payout... sounds like a lot of the tourneys I have played in... LOL

Anyway, what exactly are the issues you are having that would make you want to take on apoker site in the first place? you are very vague about the reasons and that makes a big difference... not that I think ANYONE could win agasint them but still it might be an issue...

You're asking for legal advise without really saying what the problem is.
I know a few sites have increased minimum till they'll pay out.
Next time you ask for help don't be so vague.

+1 and serious too. (sorry for spamming)

To the op: Either you are on ultratilt or got pummeled by some site.

We can't seriously comment on things we do not know anything about.

We need more info.

Much of what has been said before is true:

-sueing someone in a foreign country is extremely expensive

and probaly highly -EV.

Giving more details could enable us to give you some help - so do it.

I'm guessing that this thread isn't going quite the way that the OP envisioned it when he sat down and demanded "only SERIOUS REAL ANSWERS."

(This is the internet, after all, and the internet is SERIOUS BUSINESS!)

Here's a serious answer:

The people who were cheated in the Absolute/UB scandal lost HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, and so far they haven't gotten it back, despite the worldwide attention they have gotten and the fact that they are rich and can afford any attorneys that they want.

But you think you're going to sue an offshore gambling entity and win??

Ha ha. Hahaaahaaa! HAAHAAAHAAAA!!! BWAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:

Actually I'm pretty sure all those who lost money to the superusers at UB/AP have been reimbursed.

No they haven't. I think AP reimbursed all the players from the one famous Potripper tournament, but those guys had scammed hundreds of thousands of dollars from many games over many months.

Yeah, I've been looking around online and I can't find anything saying that anyone has been reimbursed for all those games, but if I do find it I'll post a link.

According to their press release from 12/2/08 they have:

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) has responded to CBS 60 Minute's report on the cheating scandals at Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker.
This is the entire statement from the KGC:
The Kahnawá:ke Gaming Commission ("KGC") and its agents, having viewed the CBS News item entitled "The Cheaters", extends the following clarification and information which, although provided to the show's producers, had been left out of the storyline.

1. The Ultimate Bet ("UB") cheating was initiated while UB was owned and operated by Excapsa (a public company whose Board of Directors included several high-profile Canadians). Pursant to a settlement agreement finalized in November, 2008, Excapsa agreed to pay Tokwiro ENRG US $15,000,000. [Author's Note: Among the 224 Excapsa shareholders, many of whom were identified during the firm's liquidation proceedings, were David Peterson and Norman Inkster. Peterson is the former Liberal Party Premier of Canada's Ontario province who at one time served as Excapsa's non-executive chairman, and Inkster was a former chairman of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Both held public roles with Excapsa and were identified with the company prior to its sale to Tokwiro ENRG in 2006.]

2. All players that were adversely affected by cheating (both AP and UB) were fully reimbursed. In the case of UB, these refunds amounted to over US $20,000,000. The reimbursement of UB players was affected within days after the Excapsa settlement. The KGC played a key role in facilitating and monitoring reimbursements.

3. The KGC and its agents have reviewed AP/UB operations and systems and have confirmed that all necessary steps have been implemented to prevent against cheating in future. Migration to the CEREUS software platform was approved and closely monitored by KGC.

4. Contrary to claims made in the 60 Minutes story, in addition to significant penalties levied under its Regulations (eg. fines totaling US $2,000,000), the KGC has initiated a criminal complaint against at least one cheater (Russ Hamilton) and is cooperating with law enforcement authorities. Other such complaints may follow.
