I'm writing to share my findings and see if others have had similar experiences.

In playing blackjack at UltimateBet, I felt as though I was loosing too much after I had doubled. I know, of course, that you remember more the hands you lose by bad beats than the ones you win as expected, so I decided to collect data. I analyzed 1999 hands on UltimateBet's blackjack software, and, sure enough, I found that when a 6s was showing, the dealer did not bust nearly as often as it should have. See this website for a complete description: DO NOT PLAY BLACKJACK AT ULTIMATEBET.

In other words, it appears as though UltimateBet's blackjack software is rigged. This is also an issue that may influence poker players at UltimateBet as well, since when I contacted them about this issue, their response was, "We use the same Random Number Generation system in Blackjack that has made our site world-famous for poker security and fairness."

Please post your experience with UltimateBet's blackjack.

Thank you,
-Matt

Why would it not be rigged? It's against the Ultimatebet house, not other players, so I do not see why it would not be rigged

EDIT: Lmao at only 8 hits on that link you posted

Your sample isn`t large enough to be presented as proof. However, a sensible person would not play online Blackjack in the first place. It is clearly -EV.

lol 1999 hands.

of those 1999 hands on average the dealer will have a 6 showing in 154 of those hands.

so your effective sample size is ~154.

now i hate Ultimatebet as much as the next guy, but drawing conclusions from that is ridiculous.

I very much appreciate all the comments, and yes, of course, the sample size is very small. I only observed 178 hands with a 6 showing.

However, statistics can be performed on samples this small, generally as long as the number of hands (178) times the probability of a given outcome (busting-> p=.44) is greater than 10, which in this case it definitely is. In this case, there is a 0.9% chance of only 61/178 hands busting based on random chance. Having a much larger sample size would make this number even smaller if the software is rigged.

Anyway, anybody know a good way of getting a larger sample size? Is there some sort of log that I can access? If so, I could run a macro or something to analyze lots of hands. Right now, I'm stuck observing them and recording them myself.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the only way you are going to get a larger sample size is by playing, which probably isn't a very good idea :p

the problem i have is that you've specifically cited the 'when the dealer shows a 6' statistic. why not when the dealer shows a 7? why not overall expectancy vs actual net profit/loss? because they don't support your argument? anyone can pick and choose from statistics to argue a point.

must be five 6's in the deck they use at UB since you're +24 vs. expected # of 6's seen over 1999 hands.

obvious proof it's rigged.

Well theres no way they are dealing out continuous decks. Haven't checked it out, but its either autoshuffle, toughest rules, or completely rigged. Online casino isn't going to offer a game that is beatable.

lol we don't need any kind of stats for this.....pretty much every online casino is rigged, u vs. the house.....house wins everytime. Poker on the other hand, they collect rake, they dont care who wins or loses

I haven't tried it for anything other than play money but UB does have something called elimination blackjack tournaments where you actually are playing against other players.

If you really want to play blackjack, just practice strategy in the play money rooms then try one of the tournaments.

BTW the strategy's a lot different than for traditional blackjack, and you're trying to not only build your stack but bust other players.

I assume that since you joined a poker forum that your interests are in poker. If this is the case I'm not sure why you would play anything else.

Funny how you see a lot of posts about how online poker is rigged. The way I see it, if anything would be rigged, it would be the casino games!

Stick to the felt!
