Not sure which one is the worst - UB or AP ...? At this point, I'm inclined to say AP is worse, but maybe that's because I cannot get logged in since their introduction of Cereus - my question has become - Are You SERIOUS ??
Since they combined and I tried to log-in to AP, I got a message that says "user nevadanick already exists" so I must choose another name. Of COURSE it exists - it's ME !!! 'doh....
So I changed it to nevadanick_1 and it 'ABSOLUTE-ly' refuses to finish a log-in for me. That makes my work easy. When I'm in the mood, I'll just uninstall AP, which I understand many players have already done. I should be in good company of non-AP players.
Back to UB - imo, the new software is terrible. I wrote 2 different e-mails to UB support and have received a reply to only one so far. The first was about moving tables and getting pushed into back-to-back big blinds. Their reply was, in part, "This is done randomly and, although rare, may result in a player having to post several big blinds in a row."
'Real' poker sites know how to move a player without beating them to death with the blinds.
The second e-mail inquired about their card shuffle. I really want to know if UB (and AP) run their shuffle like Stars and pre-set the 52 card deck before the first card is dealt, or if they use a constant shuffle and deal cards 'on demand' as Full Tilt does. Have yet to receive a reply, even though Paul Leggett's statement on Tokwiro's website reads: "Our company is committed to being the most transparent site on the net and to providing our players with a personal touch that other sites do not. I speak to many players myself, I grant a lot of interviews, we offer phone support and our security team speaks with players on a daily basis. We hope that you start to notice the improvements we are continually making to improve our service and transparency."
I really do understand that large corporations invest their operations in numerous countries, but UB and AP operations should give online players some cause for concern. From Towiro's website: "Tokwiro Enterprises, ENRG ("Tokwiro"), is a registered Mohawk sole proprietorship, proudly rooted in the Mohawk community of Kahnawá:ke, and inscribed in the Province of Quebec’s corporate registry. Tokwiro Enterprises is owned 100% by Joseph T. Norton." also "Tokwiro has operations in the Kahnawá:ke Mohawk territory and in Costa Rica and Panama that provide many economic and social benefits for more than 500 employees, their families and communities."
That said, 60 Minutes reported that the Kahnawake Gaming Commission houses 60 computer systems for online gaming sites. Isn't that a lot like the wolf guarding the chicken coupe - responsibly? Why not let Steve Wynn in Las Vegas run the Nevada Gaming Commission???
Since Tokwiro admits to operations in
canada (Mohawk Territory), Costa Rica and Panama, why are their domain names registered elsewhere? AP is registered on the island of Madeira,
portugal and UB is registered on the island of Malta off the coast of Sicily.
Don't let any of this concern you though. They assure you - your money is secure and they work tirelessly to give you a safe gaming environment. ...
