Its always bothered me, but moreso now than in the past. Apparently, Stars holds regular freerolls for foreign players with prize pools upwards of $2,500. I know norway is one country that gets this.

Why not for U.S players though? I mean, they've remained open to the U.S. But the freerolls for us are few and far between.

Well tbh they are just spreading their market to newer people, the US is flooded with advertisements and all, so by offering some nice freerolls they want other countries to play, not only thinking since they are available to US they only have US players...

They also had some nice Canadian freerolls for a change. But like King said, they have our buisness already. Market to the places they want to gain from.

I think stars just hates me period! they are always ruining my days. I hope to return the favor some day. maybe one of their execs will be thirsty in the desert with no water and I will promise them some if they crawl ten feet, then give it to another guy when he gets within 1 foot of me. and say oops thats just life.

It's quite reasonable because Stars is very well spread and good founded in the States and needs to spread to other markets specially those europeans, where the poker tradition is not that great

If u search the forum u will find atleast 4other threads on the this subject.

Basic marketing PS haves a strong US customer base but are fighting hundreds of smaller sites for European,Australians ect players so obvs. they need something to set them apart from all the other sites and one way they do that is offering these freerolls.

foreign freerolls...

A lot of poker sites do this... such a Full Tilt, and bodog... they offer special freerolls for a particular country or region... in order to break into that market... europe has a lot of small poker websites that dominate the area... by giving them special freerolls, it serves as an insentive for people to come to the big website such as Poker Star, Full Tilt... etc.

There's lots of reasons why freerolls are Country biased. What I don't understand, is why certain countries are banned from certain sites. I understand the US debacle, but why are Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong not allowed on the merge network? ( owned and operated from Cyprus ). Why are Canadians not allowed to play on Bodog ? ( no longer owned by Mr Ayre ). I'm sure there are other wierd examples too.
