I noticed a dip in traffic lately on bovada and I'm wondering, what gives? It's been this way the past week, Fridays lately are like Mondays a month ago..

I noticed the same thing happened around the super bowl. I assumed the recreational gamblers had to be pulling some of there gambling funds off of there poker tables. Either that or maybe the change in weather lately has people off of their computers.

Are there any grinders out there with some input? Is march madness going to eat into my supply of fish? What should summer traffic be like compared to traffic this winter? Any input is appreciated, not being able to get tables up in a timely fashion has been pissing me off and makes me not want to play when I know it will be slow..

That software is the nut low, I can't use a HUD on there to track my play, and I can't develop reads on people called 1282384u94u948494894.

I just can't do Bovada; tried several times, but....unless I can somehow get a free HUD for Blowvada, never again aside from random CC MTTs or whatever.

I could deal with no HUD for sure, but how can you remember who is who with no avatars or names?

Seems to change the game a bit too much for my liking personally. I like to adjust to my opponents, it that odd?

Treat that site like a live game where you know nobody. HUD's are overrated.

I did a quick google search, Check this out, it may answer you question ---> http://acepokersolutions.com/Bodog_Poker_Catcher.html

I actually don't presently use anything special as a HUD.....just the one Carbon gives you.....so, I am not reliant on a HUD to be effective as a player.

I don't see why you assume live play is against total unknowns?

I played in regular games a bunch and even in Casino play there are regulars you know and adjust to.

That IS poker.

POKER IS ADJUSTING to players' games.......it isn't playing robotically in a certain preconceived way against all opponents, that's nonsense.

How is the traffic on carbon? I have their software downloaded but I have yet to make a deposit. It doesn't seem like they have good sng traffic like bovada and that's pretty much all I play..

I agree with Zorba that hud's are overrated. I only say that because I'm trying to transition to playing live and a hud just seems like another crutch that if I was accustomed to using, would only hinder my game live. Kind of like the need to independently calculate my chip stack, my opponent's chip stack and pot totals or even bet sizes. Simply handling chips is a skill that I need to work on..

Anyways.. I'm just wondering about the traffic.. At the game and stakes I've been playing I've been getting a ton of action this winter but it seems a little dead lately. Do you guys have any input on what to expect in the summer time vs the winter? Naturally I'd expect that people would be getting out more in the summer which would mean less rec players possibly. Also, march madness is starting and the wsop will be going on all summer. Should I expect a significant impact in action at the online tables because of any of this?

It's still slow as hell today... So I have to choose between getting half of the volume and not playing at all.. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense why it's gotten so slow all of a sudden but I'll probably be throwing in the towel early today, again...

Snows melting and it is nice out.. Also all of the basketball tournaments (It is March) probably lots of people using money to sports bet right now.

Thanks, this is what I'd suspected. But I've heard that some sites will "protect" their fish. I don't know how true this could be but I only play one game and I know what the traffic is like normally and lately it has been absurdly slow. So I'm wondering if maybe I can't see all of the tables or something, I'm talking to their customer service people now...

If it's this slow because of the weather then I'm going to start praying for the next ice age to come soon.. I need a proper supply of fishies..

Weather combined with basketball tournaments can really slow down traffic especially on a site like Bovada were it is one of the bigger US sportsbetting sites.

Bovada does protect fishes. This is why they have the anonymous feature and no long term HUD's to keep the sharks from scaring all the fishies away.

This is interesting.. I've heard of this but I wasn't sure if I should believe it or not. How do you know this? and how do they segregate the players? I emailed them asking if there was any reason that I wouldn't be able to see all of the games available and they responded with some settings info that didn't answer my question and seemed a bit dodgy. So I asked them flat out if they practice segregation, it'll be interesting to see what they have to say..

What do you mean by segregating the players? They just make it so you don't have any long term HUD stats on anyone. They don't keep the bad players away from the good players in anyway.

I meant exactly that, keeping the bad players away from the good ones. I've read that it happens on some sites supposedly to keep the new players coming back..

When you said they do protect their fishies my head nearly exploded.. you meant they protect them through anonymity.. Right?

lol yes correct.

It would be nearly impossible to separate the good players from the bad players because of the problem of finding out who the good players are and who the bad players are. Even if you could then comes the hastle of when bad players start to become good or better.

ditto

I have PT4 but don't even have it downloaded on the computer I'm using these days (planning on downloading it on new puter... one day).

I too have tried to get myself to play on that site but the anonymous sh1te just messes with me too much. (I adjust according to the particular player... isn't that 'poker'?).

If I resided in U.S. I think I would play on Carbon, BlackChip & Bodonka. That way I'd have a better chance of getting in a game &/or loading enough tables.

You can use a HUD on Bovada but after your opponent exits the table or the tournament those stats disappear

I've read before that the party poker network does or at least did segregate players based on an average weekly win rate? I've seen the HUD that works for bovada but I don't think its worth it. Unless you play a lot of MTT's, then maybe it's worth it. It's weird though, they keep dodging my question of segregation. I always commend them on their customer service but whoever is answering my emails is either being dodgy or they're just slow..

I don't mind being anonymous personally. I have had the idea to try playing on carbon too in order to get more volume. I just never got around to depositing. I might have to because the bovada traffic is pitiful at the moment..

As for Carbon's liquidity its very good in micro ring games at peak hours and even afternoons...MTTs are pretty damn solid with lots of nightly GTDs now, but for SNGs specifically, well, I am not going to lie- as of late it hasn't been great, but the smaller buyin hypers run.

Don't quote me on the STTs bc it's been a bit since ive played them; I have been playing mostly MTTs/6max of late.

Bovada does not segregate players.

And traffic at 400 and 600 NL is the same as always.

That's interesting.. The mtts I play seem about average but the sngs have been practically dead. This weekend things picked up a bit finally which is nice.

STTs would be the one place where anonymity wouldn't bother me one bit. Tonnes of regs and a pretty formulaic style gets the money as P/F is key/ICM.

I heard the cash games are amazing higher up at Bovada though; I wouldn't doubt it.

As far as liquidity, I don't think we are going back to the Party/PS days anytime soon, which is a shame. You could always make a good hourly by mass tabling small stakes STTs and knowing your shove/call ranges cold, etc.

I only started grinding 45 mans when BF hit....ugh.

I still don't like the anonymity at cash games, but I've gotten used to it.

Oh, and one more thing about Carbon; they have an AMAZING satellite lineup running all the time and for a SNG player it's going to be value galore. I JUST started playing them, and today I won back to back seats for 33s putting in like 6-8 bucks and pretty much breezed at the end.

A lot of bad play....so much value.

AND they've been having sick overlays....last night I personally played in 3 MTTs with like 13k of overlay. We aren't talking big buyins either. They might have screwed up yesterday though, they had duplicate deep stacked MTTs at the same buyin levels at the same starting times....very odd.

That's interesting, it definitely sounds like someone messed up! I'm going to have to quit dragging my feet and check it out.

Yeah, I think that in the stt's you can figure your opponents out easily enough even though it's anonymous. I'm not really wanting to drop in stakes if I don't have to but it's not a bad idea. I wish you could play more than 4 tables at bovada.

I really don't think it's a long-term issue, but that's just my educated guess.

I hope not.
