Time of day, does it make a difference?

As a 2nd shifter, I get off about 2am cst., I find that I'm playing against many drunken maniacs!! Not always a bad thing but impossible to read. The chat is usually pretty funny but the poker is awful. The play during normal hours must be better? Right? I'm unable to play in the big prime time tournaments but the play there must be a bit more consistent? Right?
What time of day/night do you feel is the best time to play?
Friday or Saturday night 2-6am...try it!

I most of the time get to play only late night from 12 am till about 6am and those people will do some crazy stuff. played once from 2pm till 8pm seem much smoother.

I agree it is a lot easier to win when the drunks get home from the bar. I am usually one of them. But I probably play better drunk than most of you play sober. Just kidding I wouldn't say that if I was sober.

I've wondered about the time making a difference myself. Only problem is, online you are playing with people all over the world. So, when playing at my midnight it could be 8 am for the people I am playing with.

This is very subjective, but I find that I have more success playing between 8:00 a.m. and noon Eastern time. Perhaps it's because I'm fresher, but it seems that the quality of opposition is also far below the evening and late night hours.

Playing here on the East Coast in the late night/wee hours means that you are playing a lot of West Coasters. Don't wish to start a gang war, but I think they are tougher overall than players in the Midwest and East. I usually avoid night owl play, unless it happens to be a late tourney start. I stay out of ring games altogether after 11 pm.

I try to avoid the college crowd,they play just as crazy as any drunk in my opinion,i cant nail down a specific time since ive been known to play all hours.By the time im done grinding it out everything is a blurr,and i dont drink any alcohol.

the best hour for me is 11-12. its too early for the barhoppers to be home, but all the kiddies have gone to bed.

6pm-midnight est seems to be when the most people are on..don't know if that makes a difference. Means there are more good and bad players on, I guess.

I play at all sorts of odd times, specially seeing as I am over in Europe. On my days off a lot of the poker sites tend to be rather empty and lacking in table choice in the mornings.

This is the main reason I play on party poker as even at the quiet times it still tends to have 12k players which is a lot more than most sites draw at peak times.

i usually play all hours of the day, i really think it depends on if your well and rested and what site your playing on not the players your facing and at what times.

winning money

play with real money in the middle of the night. maintain a tight play posture. you'll be a winner if you truly know the game. your job puts you in the enviable position of playing against generally very loose gamblers.

I play the wee hours of the morning. Seem to do a lot better when I play then. I don't know if it is because I am willing to take a bigger risk but I know that when I win I win bigger during those hours.

much easier to beat the drunks, however some days ya do want a challenge. i feel early evening is the best time...

I've wondered the same thing myself, but never thought to ask. The only problem for me with playing around 2am or so is that the drunks can be fairly obnoxious and rude.

Great responses, thanks everyone. I never really thought about the time changes from all over the world so I guess whenever I play I should expect to see a fair mix of of time zones.

I think you're right -- playing against wild drunks in the wee hours is a good opportunity, if you're sober. I know I've made the mistake of coming home after a night of bar-hopping and getting online to play. And that was a somewhat costly venture. I won't do that again.

I think the key to playing your best is being fresh and alert. I work shift work and if I am tired at midnite and try to play I don't play my best and usually lose. Those late night drunks are either that lucky or just plain stoned drunk good. If you play late at nite stay sober and you can pick us some good cash by playing wisely.

i don't play play money tables on weekends because i always seem to lose on these days. during the week is better
