I really hate poker rooms that decide you must be dead and zero your balance if you don`t play there for a while. You would think, wouldn`t you, that they would at least have the decency to send you a letter or email and ask if you still need your account ?

I have been screwed that way by Interpoker and by PokerTime, only for small balances that are little more than pocket change to me, but it`s just wrong in principle. They don`t know who I am or what my bankroll is. For all they know, I have no other accounts anywhere and they cleaned me out and put an end to my poker career. They obviously don`t care.

Do you know any other poker rooms that behave this way ? Let`s name them and shame them.

That is pretty harsh, even if it is not a large sum of money . Haven't had it happen to me and I have numerous accounts with small amounts just sitting there. Thanks for letting us know Egon.

Anyone remember the notorious Wingows from 4 or 5 years back? Closed down and paid no one.

how long was it since you last logged in? if you remember.
have you tried emailing support? i don't know anything about the site(s) that closed your account(s) and cleared your balance. just think it's possible the software is set up to close accounts after X months.
if they care about their players then support should help you.

Yes, that is how some of them are set up. I did contact support in both cases. I don`t recall what Interpoker said (it was a while ago). PokerTime just said that was their policy and it couldn`t be changed.

They claimed that all the money in my account was bonus and therefore I couldn`t keep it if I wasn`t going to play there regularly. I knew that wasn`t true - I have spreadsheets recording every transaction on every one of my accounts, so I asked them to double-check, but they still came back with the same excuse. So, I have uninstalled it. Not worth my time to argue.

I cant remember the site, but I had a recent email from them saying that if I didnt play with my money there in the next 30 days, they would start charging me on my account. So i went to the webpage, downloaded the site all over again, and opened the cashier, which had the grand total of 17 cents in it!
I left it, and havent heard anything since.

Yes, some sites do that, and that`s a lot less objectionable. At least they make an effort to find out if you still want the account.

Good point. Difficult to see why it would be a problem to them to hold your money. Presumably they can earn interest on it. Considering the vast choice of poker sites available (assuming one is outside America), there`s no need to put up with any that provide poor service.

yeah Im guessing too that they can earn interest on it. And like you say, outside of America(sorry guys) we have so much choice of poker sites, Im not gonna use one that charges me for idle money. Then again, Im sure they're not to worried about my micro-stake BR.

Fine you by the month, just for not playing on their software.

888 and skins are the same.

Any site that acts in this way deserves to fail.

They might wanna get rid of inactive accounts so there will be more usernames available to register, .
might wanna re-think this one over...

I've read in the past that some sites will do this (seems absurd) & I believe on some others, if you're inactive you lose some of your plyr pts.(? not sure how that works??). I make a point of logging onto all of them every month & if nothing else, I'll play like 2 or 3 orbits of 2nl

Most sites have it in the terms and conditions that accounts will be considered inactive after 6 months. Yes, online poker has changed drastically. Once the US can get things straightened out, it will return along with all the sites seeking a fortune. You remember Wingows? Let's go back further. Do you remember Desert Poker and Poker Island?

The other one that does this that I know of from experience is Party Poker.
I complained to them about it and they referred me to their terms and conditions. They cover themselves and they were clearly within their rights but how many of actually read all the terms and conditions before signing up. It would cost them or the other sites nothing to send a simple reminder by email to you a week before they took this action. That way you would have the chance to play and protect your bankroll.
Gala also stop your account after a period of time but if you contact them they will open it back up again with your bankroll still in tact.

Had this happen to me on a few ipoker sites. They emailed me stating that if I earned loads of points (think it was ~6k) in the next 30 days I would get my points back. Job done for them, I played alot on that site that month and busted my bankroll when I got real close to the goal. Only had a small amount on there and was playing the jackpot SNGs so it was always gonna be tough.
