I am curious as to how many people play there cards and how many play the chance that you might be able to bluff someone off a pot by making them believe you have a stronger hand than them now dont get me wrong i know position has a lot to do with betting but I would think you would want to have more than a draw or an assumption that if i bet so much above what the pot is worth they will fold. What do you guys think

I think you should express yourself a bit clearer before posting. Ever heard of a full-stop?

Anyway. My answer? IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE OPPONENT, THE CHIP STACK, TABLE IMAGE...etc etc!

Personally, I never bluff. When playing against me, you must always fold to my raise, since I undoubtedly have you beat. ;)

Same here, i dont tend to bluff very much at all. I have tried in the past but got busted every time! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that i am a horrible liar? I dont know. But on the other hand i will try to take the pot if the situation is good, but that doesnt happen very often either.

Good question though, i have often wondered the same thing of others.

Turniphead I dont understand why you say I should express myself a bit clearer before I post.I thought it was rather simple i was reading through another thread and noticed that alot of replies to the thread seemed to be talking towards position, and amounts to bet. These are the types of players that I call chance players,or I geuss better known as bluffers.I just couldnt believe that no one had givin this guy a heads up on what cards he should be looking for.I didnt either the more I thought of replying to his thread the more I thought I dont want to let anyone in on my playing style.:)
I do appreciate the replies, and dont forget you may not want to try2stopme!:D

I think bluffing is a thing that ppl with limited experience of poker think the game is all about. It`s not!!!

Obviously there are different types of bluffs, but I think (accepting that in some low level buyins ppl will go all in with ziltch) the amount of time someone will try a stone cold bluff without any outs must be below 5% on average.

In general, as has been said, it will depend on chip stacks, outs, stage of tourny, read on players, etc.

Bluffing is definitely a big part of the game, come on guy what are you talking about? Whether it be an all out bluff or semi bluff. Personally I like to set up my bluffs with a smooth call on the flop, ecspecially when I have position.

i tend not to bluff with big bets but little ones. big bets send out a message your bluffing but a bet 3/4 of the pot wil have teh same effect and if you get caught you will lose much less.

I will use bluffing, to steal the blinds. It is a survival technique that I try to use while I'm not getting strong hands. It is an attempt to slow down the depletion of my chip stack.
I will also use bluffing when I have a strong table image after a rush of strong hands.

However I find that there is a lot more chips gain to be made by using deception when I not I have the nuts.
