Which table do you choose

Ok, so you walk into a casino, your looking around for a table to take a seat at. There is one table im looking at, everyone seems very friendly, and having a bit of a laugh. At the other table everyone seems to be real serious and unfriendly.

Which do you choose and why?

The one closest to the bar!

I would have to go for the friendly table as i play poker mostly for enjoyment and my live games are usually social occasions with the boys...a serious table surely means serious money...and the bar thing might really make a difference to my choice too.

The one where people seem friendly and having a laugh. One of the best things about poker is having fun (and winning money). I figure even if I lose, I had a great time. Plus, you won't have players (based on what you observe anyway) get totally pissed off when they have a bad beat and say how much of a bad move you did.

AMEN!!! I agree 100%

always play at the friendly game, it is easy to get ALOT of value bets out of your. opp. When playing at a game like this, do not enforce the ALL IN stragety, unless you are trying to buy an extremely large pot. They opp. in this type of game are "wasting time", so play really good cards and make moderate bets with big hands. This type of game is what I thrive on, because you can have fun and make lots of money. Also, when playing in this game try to color up and move the bigger chips behind your stacks, so they are not visable for you opponents, if you dont they will realize that you are raping the game. I have won 300-400 dollars and still been one of the table favorites, because no one realized that I had taken so much of their money..... But that is just my opinion

I might sit at the serious table just because I might think all these somber faces had been cracked. If that's the case I hope there ready for me to sit down and wipe there Little pockets clean.

I'd go with the serious because they are there to play the "game". Not saying being friendly is a bad thing but friendly I would guess is playing more loosely because they are having a good time. The ones who are also silent probably could show me more about the game cause they are paying more attention to it then those having a good time.

Serious table without a doubt.

Play at the "fun" table and even when playing a great game you get outdrawn by bad calls who happen to get lucky.

Playing at the serious table and losing will be your fault and your fault alone.

Reverse that if you need someone to blame when you lose!

Either - I'd just bluff more at the friendly table and tighten up and value bet more at the serious one.

I think it will depend on my mood. If im really tired I will rather play at a calm table than a friendly one.

Well the theroy behind this is that, laughter at a table is usually an indication that the people at the table are there for fun, to enjoy themselves, and are not taking it too seriously so therefore easily beatable.
And at the other table where there is silence usually indicates real serious players who are there to win so therefore greatly sliming your chances of profit.
So if you are there to make profit, take a seat at the table with laughter, tighten up your game, mostly play premium cards. Don't try too many tricks, and you should finish with a smile on your face...

They were all laughing in Rounders and still took the fish for all their money. I think both tables could be dangerous.

Rounders was good but it was still just a movie. I see where you could fall into the sharks den playing with a bunch of locals trying to fleese the tourists. More serious would probably be the quiet table.

Have to agree on a friendly table with laughter think a person can relax and enjoy themselves and still be competitive against one another. Think every one likes to win and don't want to lose but if you give it your all, done your best and had a good time,your a winner in your self.

To be honest I would probably s*** myself at either. Not ready for that just yet... I am a complete beginner so, if any, the friendly table it has to be!
