anyone tried to do these to build up a bankroll? it seems like a long shot to win 3 of the free SNGs to get 1 dollar and then turn that into something, but i am gonna try. Anyone else tried?

I try them in the past and I can say it not worth it. It way to hard. I think you have better luck playing the freeroll.

Step 1 is like a freeroll - everyone playing really loose first hand
Step 2 is better but still can be loose
Step 3 is a tight SnG everyone wants the dollar.

I have won a few dollars on these but truthfully it's really hard to build a BR this way.

I've won several and built a br to give or take 15 bucks. It's a long shot to have a respectable roll from just those just you only need two bucks to be rolled for the 11c games. I'd say they're worth it as opposed to freeroll because they are sng. I think winning 3 sng's for a buck on my time is better than waiting for a 5000 man game which doesn't pay money until top 5 since the other places win 2 dollar tickets then 11 tickets at final table.

i play them to have something to do, zero risk, and i could maybe get a buck. I wouldn't sit at them exclusively and expect to have a couple hundred by the end of the month though.

I think it takes too much time to get $1 in the fun steps. Completely agree with Leo's post.

you get 10 shots at step one a day on each merge site.....all in first great hand then win the game for a 2(tickets are good for quite a few days) ..spend the day playing those and building those tickets on all sites .....then play the twos another day because your play on those will change ...spend all day playing those and then work on the three when u can devote your head to it....you're right it's a long time, long effort for one dolla...it will be a personal choice as to it's worthiness. gl

I never tried to build a bankroll without depositing before until I discovered these steps. It's harder then I thought it would be, I am not doing so well in them, I am strictly a micro players anyways even if I would deposit, so now I'm thinking if I would deposit and play the micro tournaments they offer, maybe even try to play some ring games, if I would enjoy the site a bit more.

I was a stars player before black friday and profited a little there by just making the minimum deposit. The minimum deposit at Carbon is 20 bucks I think, it's not a large amount of money by any means and even though I can never get in enough volume to clear any bonuses they offer, it may still be better then playing step tournaments.

Imo,
the merge steps are a good , fun way to learn the game.
Especially if you are a beginner.
No risk to your wallet.
But the danger is , because they are free, you may play hands that you would not play if there was money involved.

If you use these games to learn , I think they can be a useful tool.
If you can't beat the low stakes , you ain't gonna beat the high stakes.
