with so many new cc-players on carbon and other merge skins i want to give some
tips at how to get a bankroll without depositing there.
tips are based on my own experience, because me and a group of friends had a
bet on who could get the biggest bankroll at carbon in 3 months without making
a deposit.
whe used a new skin where 1 of us was affiliated to be sure there where no
deposits made :)

1) how to get your first cash !
the fastest way to get cash are the so called funsteps, you can get 10 step-1
tickets for 250 playmoney a day at the admin !
top 3 in these 10 man sng get a step-2 ticket
in step-2 top 2 get a step-3 ticket and no 3 a step 2 ticket
in step-3 winner gets $1 no-2 a step-3 and no-3 a step-2
play very aggressifif in step-1 you just need a doubbleup to be almost
certain to get in top-3, so push with any 2 facecards, suited aces and pairs !
seen loads of 4-5 man allins on first hand :)
you do good if get at least 5 step-2 tickets from it.
in step 2 still must play aggressif but for push use top 5 starterhands like
ak-aq-aj-a10-kq medium/high pp and high suited connectors.
keep in mind that want the top 2 but place 3 gives a new shot at step-2.
doing good if get 2 or 3 step 3 tickets.
in step-3 play tight aggressif you want to win this one !
second is ok for another shot and third is no to bad !
The second way to get free cash are the $200 freerolls that run about every
few hours, they cost a lot of time and just a few places get you cash or a
tournament ticket, i played these loose aggressif in the first hours so its was
mosttly death or glore early :) did not wanted to waste to much time there.

2) Got your first cash so what now ?
:) made your first $1 what to do next ?
i suggest to play limit ring games at lowest level with a minimum buyin to try
to get 10 cents profit so you can play the $1 double or nothing sng that are
fairly easy to cash in.
second option is to play the 6 cent MTT, quarter quickly or the fast
fifty freezeout MTT.
i did a fast fifty and a quarter quickly with my first $1 for 90 cents total,
leaving me with 10 cents so i could play the $1 double or nothing sng with
my second funstep dollar i would get :)

3) got your first $10 so what now ?
this depens on what you like more or are better in !
i kept playing funsteps, played like a real donk in the $200 freerolls(death or glory)
i chose to play mostly $1 double or nothing sng and the fast fifthy freezeout as
main source to build my bankroll !
besides those i played low level bounty sng and mtt ! why those ?
bounty sng top 3 pays out and every kill is 50% of investment back !
i played these tight agressif and made nice profit in those.
the bounty mtt i played also tight aggressif was just needing 2 kills to get my
investment back :) mostly made 4+ kills and cashed in a few for a steady growt.

hope to have given some usefull tipsfor all those trying to build a bankroll from
scratch and wish your luck if trying to do so.

Nicely put together (although a bit more paragrphing>wall of text).
Step 4) Join private freerolls (like CCs)
Step 5) Join money-added buy-ins (like CCs)

Thanks for the post wolfie. I have been thinking about this exact thing.

I agree that the Fun Steps are the best way to get fast cash.
I've been playing them and wondering where to go next.
I'll probably see you in a $1 double or nothing sng soon.

I was able to turn a $11 ticket (from $200 freerolls) into a $60 ticket in one of the wsop satellites, but can't decide where to go with it.
Either a freezeout or the High Roller Satellite where about 1 in 3.5 players either get cash or a $215 ticket.

not play the $1 double or nothing anymore :)
moved up a bit playing mostly MTT freezeouts and bounty games up to $5
buyin and some money added games and forum games at european times :)
also play with a group where each player stakes $10 a month and plays a
competition where the top 4 after 3 months get staked in some big games,
like sunday millions or similair games where the player gets 50% of result to
keep and the rest devided among the members :)
are in second season there and i possible will be top 4 this time :)
first season the results where positif for the non staked members :)

the $60 ticket is great but i would use it in a game where i could get cash for it :)

Yep, there are several tourneys with a $60 buy-in like the $7500 'teed or $3k 'teed which have smallish fields.

One other point on the Funsteps; when i play them i wait for the allin idiots to sort themselves out and get my chips in with a good hand. You can finish in the top three seven or eight out of ten times easily. Funstep 2s are much the same. Funstep 3 you need to be careful because a game of poker can occasionally breakout!

I found the 60c SnGs were good for building an initial bankroll if you don't like the $1 double ups.

Thank you so much for the advice!

I am currently buiding up some tickets for the fun steps. I currently have 3 step 3 tickets, and 5 step 2 tickets. I'm gonna multi-table the step 2's until I can accumulate 4-5 step 3s, then multi table those. I tend to do better when I multitable, if they are all the same level. Allows me to play the same strategy without remembering which table is which level.

Wish me luck!

Careful with that!
The fun step coupons expire quite quickly, you don't want to lose all your hard work

Also it is very hard to believe that you actually do better multi tabling than you would by concentrating on just one table. When you are consistently winning the single tables is the only time you should consider multi-tabling

Good Luck

TY for the warning. I am being careful.

Its not that my win rate is higher. Its simply that I have limited time to play poker nowadays and I just can't stand getting sucked out on if I am playing one table. This way, even when I get unlucky on 1-2 of the games, I didn't waste my entire session. When I get up to playing Step 3s, I will probably limit myself to 2 at a time.

Thanks for the tip on changing fun money for step 1 S n G's. Have seen them but since they are restricted, I didn't even think about them. They play similar to DON S n G's and IMO are easier to play. Anytime you want to play for a while and have a bit of fun, they are not bad, and maybe a good way to initially start a bankroll - better than freerolls with hundreds or thousands of entries.

Agree with these statements, but my main reason for replying to this post is to find that there are other Deadwood fans out there - love your name. I would watch this series any time it is shown - liked it so much that I have recorded it to DVD.
