I was playing a cash game tonight and I saw a guy sit down with the screen name >M055R. Normally the screen in front of our chairs at the table shows our screen name and how much money we have in front of us. This player it only shows his name, no idea how much he has in front of him. I go into live help to speak to someone at bet online and I get no help at all.
Of course the first hand I get into with him he felts me. I have A K o he has AQ o flop comes A K 7 rainbow we end up all in he turns Q and rivers Q. I am not screamin foul play at all but with all the oddness that came with this player and the run around with the customer service a little piece of me cant help but wonder.
Also I typed the person screen name in the search box on betonline and it comes back unknown user name.
I am going to attempt to attach a screen shot showing the table and the chat with customer service.

Did you try restarting the software?

I am thinking glitch as well, especially if they sat after you did. Betonline is not exactly known for its superior software.

The same thing happened to me when I played with that player. Not only can you not see their stack, but it won't let you take any notes on them either. Pretty weird.

If the same glitch has happened with different players playing against the same opponent I think you're right to be suspicious. Qustion is what to do about it? Get back onto online help? Avoid this opponent? Play on a different site?

Are you thinking someone hacked the system or it's an inside job?

Cool looking Bicycyle cards though.

Support response is classic... they should use this for an advertising campaign. (wonder how much that guy gets paid?.. has he been working there for long?)

Does it show where they're from? (can you see country/city, etc. on that site?)

You cant see anything about them. I dont really know what to think. I dont think it was someone hacking in, but more likely an inside job. The guy I chatted with about the incident has me really baffled. He tells me I need to wait til tournament is finished, I reply its not a tourny its a cash game and he says I know. Then they cut me off of chat.

Since more than one has seen this with this player, I'll go out on a limb and suggest it may be due to the > character in front of his name. Don't know about BetOnline specifically, but many of these poker clients (like bodog and Absolute Poker/UB) use HTML to render their clients in a browser engine. The > character is significant in HTML as a closing tag, and it's not unusual to see shoddy code cause such special characters to break parts of the content being displayed.

I've hear a ton of reports about BetOnline's shoddy software, so it wouldn't seem much of a stretch for this to be the reason.

Oh, and their support rep is LOL-worthy. :)

Was thinking the same when I saw his name. If that's the case it certainly wouldn't make me want to play there. That would seem to be a pretty basic thing to get right and if it's wrong hard to tell what else is shoddy.

I am glad that someone is bringing the "fishiness" of this site out. I personally USED to play on BetOnline cash tables only... but with the crapping out of the software... NO MORE. Sorry to digress; my experience of fishiness falls in the fact that EVERY TIME I have been dealt pocket kings it will delay as if the software or internet connection went out (which I have never had one problem with Cox cable... not any downtime ever since I have been a customer) and it then will sit me out; thus not being able to play the hand. This has occurred now on 13 occasions... Coincidence??? I'll leave that one up to you. Oh... customer service is a joke, telemarketers would make better tech support!

Its obviously a glitch.

I think the support is LOL, but I think they think you are reporting a guy with an M of 0.55 (which is a tournament thing).
