Hey,
So I'm trying to start my bankroll via the freeroll method. I've been checking out a lot of the "private" freerolls on FT (some of which you can join, which is great). Then there are others like one put on by 'pokertablesupply. com'

When you go to the website to get the password... the website is really sketchy looking. There's really nothing to it. It's essentially saying "we put on $25 freerolls on full tilt. Type in your email and your FT username here and we'll give you the password".

I am understandably (I think) a bit nervous about that and haven't done it. Anyone know what these sites are aiming at? I know there's a catch I just dont know what they could possibly get out of my email and my FT username besides send me junkmail (which is what that email account is for anyway).

The freerolls typically only have like 100 ppl sign up and you only have to final table to make money so it's not bad.... Just... sketchy...

I've always wondered about those freerolls aswell but never gone to a site where they're meant to be from, unless I know and am part of that site.

How about you give it a go and let us know the results of putting your email & alias in, or if it's even possible create another dummy FT account & see what happens.:icon_thum

You have to do the suveys first to get password and the some of the surveys give you viruses and download random files on yor computer. You can sometimes get away with it if you read clearly what it says.

Got it. Thanks. I knew that there was a catch for these things. The site is extremely minimalist and I didn't think you could just email and get into a $25 freeroll every day for just giving someone your email.

Glad I asked. Thanks.

after you look at the garbage sites like that--it asks you for your address and phone number during the surveys. it also said something like "By signing up and giving my information, I explicitly allow this site to spam me."

I assume there's a bunch of garbage viruses/spyware and phishing connected with it.

Yeah, when I look at freeroll section at any poker sites (not only FT) there is always a "weird" freeroll with unfamiliar sponsor, but my suggestion is just pass on it.

Never sign up for those websites. There are sites that have passwords that people share. on facebook, there is a group that is great for private tournies and you dont have to sign up for anything.

Real bad idea ^
Create a dummy acc't on FT..... why would anyone risk their oppurtunity to play on FT by creating a dummy acc't. for a $25 freeroll entry? Seriously... alot to lose for doing this. You do know it's against site's rules to open a 2nd account don't you? If not, I suggest you read up on it as it might just save you alot of heartache down the road.

I have tried some

Unfortunately, I have tried to join some of those so called sketchy freerolls, and from what I see, I am better off without them. Trying to get the passwords go through many offers that you must try to earn the password. Frankly, I switched over to Felt Stars where they have 5.00 and 10.00 dollar freerolls where the numbers are not high and all I have to do is join.

Thanks for the concern, it was nothing more than a dumb drunken joke
