I can't believe none of the cardrooms have come up with the idea of what I call a "bankroll limiter".

Maybe it wouldn't be so profitable for some sites, although I wonder how many people go on tilt, blow their bankroll and then change site and they lose the player?

My idea is for an online poker site to add a "bankroll limiter" to their software, where as you can set yourself bankroll rules. Then software will then not allow you to play in a game that does not meet the requirements you stated in your bankroll. Perhaps then you can have the option of specifying how long after requesting to change the settings that it will kick in. I.E 2hr delay, 24hr delay etc etc.

Kind of like:

SNG:

x Do not buy in for a game xx times the total amount of my account

Ring:

x Do not buy in for a game where 50 times the big blind is xx% of my account balance etc etc

You get the picture. Maybe somebody has done this? Leaving aside the issue of discipline and managing your own bankroll, I know plenty of players who are prone to tilt would be signing up like a shot to a site like this. Never go on super-tilt again!

I know there are filters, but that is very different. They have self exclusion I suppose - but that is not quite as slick. I think it's people going on tilt and moving up to stupid limits with their entire bankrolls which is what hurts some people. I've been there before and am getting better, but I know loads of people who can't take it and just go on mega tilt all the time (Hi Geraint!).

What do you lot think? I am amazed this hasn't been done.

I think too many people like other people going on tilt ;). It wouldn't be a bad addition. Paying rake over and over while winning and losing would be more income for a site than someone blowing it all (to other players) at once. Maybe they'll implement this to garner goodwill from US politicians who point to a family going broke because of dad's gambling problem as a reason to ban online poker. In reality those people would still find a way to go broke, but it would look good.

I have limits set up on most sites. All you have to do is email customer service and they will gladly help you out.

SvenskaSpel.se (a Swedish poker site) actually has exactly this. You can set up limits for how much you allow yourself to lose in one day, one week, etc. and how long of a break you're forced to take before you get to play again after such a loss.

I can see its usefulness for some people.

I don't see where the up side for the poker site is to do this. From a lot of sugestions I hear it sounds like a software product named Mommyware would sell well. Seriously though, I hate anything that impairs me from making decisions or tries to "watch after me".

Everyone has a bankroll limiter, just say done*!!,and call it a day.I know its tuff to do sometimes, but at this point you need a break at least. The way the sites look at it,you will be back sooner or later.I feel for ya tho.but everybody cant win, there must be a loser somewhere.Just play good and learn, and dont let you be the loser.I use bankroll management my self, and this is it,I only play with freeroll money. This way,you never lose out-of-pocket money.
