You guys taught me something about luck skill and the game of poker and it seems like for every bad beat I am able to shine in another game, for every 5 $11 games I play in I cash in 3, usually take 2 bad beats but cashing in 3 so it works out perfectly. Right now my bankroll stands at $71.59. I dont know how many $11 games I have played but I seem to be cashing in 3 out of 5 I play.

with only 71 dollars in your account I dont think that you can possibly play the 22 dollar tourneys yet. thats only 3 buy ins. If you have a run of bad cards your whole bankroll is gone. Im not even sure 71.59 is even enough to do 11 dollar buy ins but you seem to be doing good so keep it up.

Yea the $11 have been treating me good. Since my return to online poker a few weeks ago I have been able to cash out at least once a week.

Beware the downswing, man. It will happen and it will eat your bankroll if you're playing at too high of a level. I would definitely not move $22 tourneys yet.

(4x45)-(11x4)=136, now you have just over 71 in account? Have you taken a downswing?

You shouldn't even be playing the $11 games. $22 games? That would be absolutely crazy to play $22 games with that BR. I don't know if Full Tilt has $5.50 games, but if they do, you should play those for sure. Your BR isn't prepared for much else if you want to play strictly SnGs.

Wow...what ^^^ said...the standard rule is never to have more than %5 of your bankroll on a table at one time. With a $70 bankroll, you shouldn't even be playing $5s, nevermind $10s or $20s!!!

Dude read the guide and the articles, and take all that info in ASAP. Believe me. I started out playing like you; trying to hop up in levels too fast and it sure as hell bit me in the ass.
I dont know how many $11 games I have played but I seem to be cashing in 3 out of 5 I play.

Again I'm not trying to be a downer, but you won't keep these numbers up if in fact you are cashing this often.

Your priorities should be:
1) To get enough money to play at a level that you're comfortable at (Which I take it would be the $11s). So save up at least $200.

2) Play a large sample size (I'd say 100 or 200 +) of those $11s and record how well you do. I'd say if you've got an ROI anywhere over 0%, that's fine, but I wouldn't say move to the $20s until you've got well over like %10 or %15.

Good job on the 2nd place finish. But, if you keep playing at that level with the bankroll you have, a downswing will eventually happen and you will likely go broke.

Why the rush to move up levels? What is wrong with perfecting your game at the $5.50 or even $11 level first?

Out of pure curiousity, why did you come on here, ask peoples advice, get an overwhelming response that indicated not moving up and then proceed to ignore that advice and move up anyway?

Either way, good luck whatever level you play at :)

I was very curious to see what poker players would say, I did it because I am confident and I have faith in my game. If I dont cash in one $22 game I will go back and play and $11 game untill I can win it. I dont like the $5.50 games because there is way to many donkeys its a luckfest and its like playing a free roll. The $11 games are great but still some crazy people who dont care about $11, Now the $22 games I have played in 3 and from what I saw I really enjoyed it, I feel like I can really make some money at this level and the play is good.

Yeah man, quit playing out of your league while you're on a winning note, please. Don't even think about doing the $20s yet! Doesn't matter how good you are... any normal downswing could eat your roll and really kill your confidence, even if you play every hand 100% right.

wow sounds terrible. people throwing their money away. i feel for you.

seriously, until your bankroll is about $450, stay away from the $22's. and you should be pissed at your 2nd place finish. if you play SNG's, you play for 1st. otherwise the rake > you.

We're not trying to be mean or anything, but seriously, if you want to keep playing poker online, move back down to $11, preferrably $5 level. Trust us, we all wouldn't be telling you this if we didn't know what we were talking about.

I'll make the prediction, nothing to do with your ability and confidence but definitely because of your BR and how many non-cashes it can sustain, you'll be out of money in a week or two max, if you keep playing the $22 games.

Keep us posted if you do, I want to see if you prove me wrong.

You can play perfect poker and lose 8-10 in a row, and will do if you play long enough. You need 20-30 buyins at least to be safe with SnGs.

Try the spreadsheet here to keep track.

Not to sound like an ass, but why ask something and don't listen when you don't like the answer?

Pretty much every SNG player I know of have had 10+ buyin downswings, and you're fooling yourself if you think the variance wont hit you. I would recommend 20 buyins as a bankroll (I used to play with a min. of 30).

Amen man. I play on bodog, got deposited 100 dollars and was up to 160 in 2-3 days. Well since then I had a HUGE downswing and was as low as 9.89, I dont think it was bad poker, just an awful run of cards. now im back up to 60 and still winning but I play 5+.50 SnG's and if you have donks and dead money it makes it so nice. You just cant race donks, donks are horses, horses are good at racing :) Whenever you play fish or donks I always just make sure I either call an all in when I have a great hand, the price is right, I at least try to make sure its 70/30 even though its hard but just play TAG and your fine.

You have to be able to endure a huge downswing, I had 20 buy ins (take or leave a few for rake) and its kept me here and now my poker is doing what it should, making me money.:stoned: :canabis:

So true. Whats the point in asking if your not gonna listen and go against the BR rules and play $20 SnG's with a $71 bankroll? Don't let temptation of playing a big SnG take over your BR rules because you will end up with nothing and then you will be sitting there asking yourself why you played a $20 SnG with a $70+ BR and wishing you'd listened to everyone..

Be PATIENT.. Play small SnG's and build your BR up slowly and patiently, you will get rewarded in the long run. If you want to push the boat out alittle then play $5.50 18/27 players, longer and tougher but better prizes.

P.S. Hello to everyone, sorry haven't posted much, been messing about with my ISuited league and chillin with all them for abit. Still loving CardsChat though :)
