I won my entry to this week's tournie tonight in an $11 double shootout. I already know what i'm going to do.... pretty much.... and am mainly just looking for people to tell me it's the right move, but I am also interested in knowing what some of the rest of you would do in such a situation. My bankroll has been okay as of late, but still not large enough to really be able to afford to just buy in to this event normally. So in my situation, would u play it, or withdraw and take the T$(funds you can use only for entering tournies and SNG's)? I'll post my thoughts later.

It does'nt really sound like you want to play the Sunday Million and if you don't you should'nt.

It might be a good experience to play it and if the money does'nt mean the world to you I don't see a reason to not play it.

Well Nate it really depends on your attitude to it. If the buy-in is above your bankroll requirements will you play scared ?. Will you treat it like a bonus, in the fact you got in for $11 ?

Personally id play, your MTT success lately seems to be high. Having said that 10x$22 sit and go's for $11 also sounds tempting.

Id give it a shot.

Why not play in the tourny? If you are willing to risk the $11 on a double shootout, then you should play with the potential of winning thousands. Why play a satellite with the intention of not playing the bigger game? it makes no sense.

I dont know the size of your roll but the fact you are even asking this question means you

A) Do not have the roll to afford this kind of tourney

and

B) The money could be used to bring you many more hours of valuable play. Chucking all your eggs into one basket means you will probably not play anything like your normal game and this will have an impact on your performance

Add to that the fact that you can now rebuy and add on to this tournament, the risk factor is far too high to consider playing this when the $$$ could be used a lot more consertivately to padder your bankroll and give you a basis to build on

Well done on making it though

Well it really matters, whats your average buyin size, how many buyins do you have for the average if it's under 100 bi's I say just keep the T$, if not just take the shot.

Dont play it.

If you ever enter a tourney where the entrance fee means too much to you, all you will do is play too conservatively.

The fact that you are asking means you probably shouldn't play. If you have this doubt now, you could have it during and after the tournament, if you play it. I'd take the T$ and enter smaller tournies that I would have more confidence in playing and try to build my bankroll that way.

Good luck either way!

... and is the safest investment, probably. You're virtually guaranteed to be in the money in a few of them, so will have a couple of dollars to show for it at the end of the day.

I didn't know you had that option with T$, though. Interesting.

Thanks for the responces folks, they pretty much followed my thinking exactly. I already withdrew from it and took the T$. I played in this event once before, back when it was only like a quarter million guarentee, played too passivly and was knocked out pretty quickly. promiced myself i'd only play it again if i could afford to, and i'm not there yet. i usually play 1-20 dollar tournies and i just know i'd be playing to protect my investment.

I mainly only entered the sattelite last night for something to do. You can kind of look at these things as normal tournies with different prize structures. These double shootouts pay out $35 for winning your first round match and essentially $215 for 1st or 2nd. Good practice at the very least if nothing else.

and colin the Sunday million is back to being a freezout, otherwise i wouldn't have even considered playing it. I think they got some complaints about it and the enrollment seemed to be smaller last week. certainly made a big deal pointing out that they changed it back

As you know I was railing your game last night while I was playing my tourny and we were both slumming in the .10 bingo-fest. I say take the T$ because I don't think that you would play your same game in that big tourny compared to a regular tourny, you would definatly play more passivly. You got lucky to win that entry even though you played real well. You did the right thing by taking the money. Why not enter a few more $11 Shootouts? You may cash a few more tickets and not feel bad about playing one of them?

I probably will play a couple more of the shootout satellites. btw, if you're looking to play the sunday million, i think these double shootout satellites are a good deal. They might not necessarily be the best value for your money, but they only take a couple hours to play, and they're not that hard. The first round tends to be very tight, with everyone looking for good hands, and the second round tends to be a lot more loose, with everyone already cashing and looking to get on a big stack. In the one i played, the first round took over and hour and a half, the second round probably wasn't morre then 45 minutes. good deal i think.

your game

 You do not want to play in a tourney where you are so focused on protecting your entry fee when you sit there and think about what you would have done with the entry fee in other sit and go's.

I think you make the right decision though...

Good luck
