Hi everybody, my name is Matt, and this is my first post. I'm really looking forward to getting my quality posts up and getting into the daily freerolls. I'm a decent poker player, but not great, so the only thing I think I can contribute are detailed threads about the local card rooms in my city, Tampa. I'm not sure if I should make separate threads for all four card rooms in Tampa or just this one thread. Any moderator who wants to make the call on that one please let me know and ill make that adjustment.

So, I guess ill start with the positives of the poker room. The poker room at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa is aesthetically pleasing, there are about 15 large screen TVs throughout the card room and I believe 50 tables, two of which are in a side room usually for the higher stakes games (5/10 - 10/20). There are always a number of guaranteed tournaments going on throughout the week, along with special series tournaments about every two months. the playing field for tournaments are usually decent regs, old retirees, and tourists. For the most part the cash games are the same, although there are a few decent pros/semi pros who are there 6 days a week. the poker room also has its own snack bar and bar, which I think is kind of cool. the poker room is fairly new, it was moved from one side of the casino to the other about two years ago. it now has its own parking garage with an elevator that leads straight down to the poker room. the promotions are decent, 1 comp dollar per hour at low stakes games and 2 comp dollar for 2/5nl and up games. there are number of high hand promotions that run almost 24/7 and vary in amount, I would say the average is about $300 per half hour. most months there are other promotions that pay people out if they play for a certain amount of hours, the last one I noticed back in june was $500 for every 100 hours played within that month.

the cons for this poker room are limited but still pretty bad. the rake is very high, 2 dollar min and 5 dollar max at ten percent of pot. there is now no "no flop, no drop" rule at the tables, which was enacted about 6 months ago when the manager came in. there used to be a one dollar drop for the bad beat jackpot, which was capped 50,000, but now it is a two dollar drop, for a 250,000 capped jackpot. the higher stakes games, 5/10 and up, take a time rake instead at $7 per half hour per player.

to be honest I think this poker room is the best in Tampa. the player pool is larger and weaker than the other rooms in town. the other three are located in dog tracks and only attract card player, but this room is connected to a very large casino which attracts a lot of horrible players looking to gamble. the room is physically very nice and well staffed. I find most of the dealers fast and attentive. the only thing I mind is the high rake, but I usually try to play 5/10nl and up so it usually doesn't concern me.

if anybody has any more questions about the poker room let me know.
