So I am sick and tired of the non-action at UltimateBet. It's a cardroom that has been slowly going downhill for years and the last few months I'm just fed up with:
  • The absolute joke they call traffic
  • The lack of action for 25nl and below
  • The rake taken at 50nl and above
  • The ridiculous wait times for SNGs
  • The new horrible tournament structure
I emptied my bankroll and am moving it to pokerstars so I just have decent BRs on both FTP and PS. Yay for me.

yep sounds like a good decision, I never liked UB, I think I had about 12$ on there at one time from getting deep in a rediculously high field freeroll....but I aggree I see only PS and FT surviving the next couple years anyways.

  • The new horrible tournament structure

link please...

I always liked UB because of their good structure.

UB was my first online deposit, so I have a soft spot for them. However, I was very very disappointed to find they charge $8 for a cash out vis paper check through US mail. Boo.

Well, their bonus got me, and I still have a whack of bonus to earn.. I play stud hi lo and horse, micro to lo, there are a few tables going most of the time.

I like the tourney structure, it's more relaxed. Not a turbo type me, don't like the way most online tourneys encourage bingo play with fast blinds and short stacks.

Oh i forgot to add how absolutely ridiculous it is to earn any bonuses at their site. I've done the math for FTP and it isn't exactly easy, but UB's system is darn near impossible.

What about this 9% interest they're touting on funds kept in accounts there? I haven't much looked into it, but that sounds like a fantastic deal.

I've been thinking about withdrawing/moving my (small) bankroll there, though, because according to their terms of service they can confiscate my balance at any time because I live somewhere online poker isn't completely legal. I'd hate to have a great run sometime -- or worse, slowly built up with lots of work -- and then *poof*. Gone. I'm sure other sites could do the same but it's not explicitly stated in the TOS for Stars and Full Tilt like it is for Ultimatebet.

In defense of Ultimatebet:

1. Their bonus NEVER expires, so no matter how slowly you are earning it, it's still there.

2. Good tournament structure (see link above); unless it changed (although IM could be referring to the new schedule rather than structure)...

3. Lowest stakes for SNGs anywhere (down to $0.50 +0.05). This makes it very very easy for brm no matter how little you have. Even someone with only a small amount of freeroll winnings can practice good brm.

4. Variety of above games: you can play 100 person, six person, ten person, multi- table, or single table.

4. Standard 10% rake even at the lowest levels (even the fifty cent games charge only five cents); contrast with $1.00 + $0.25 on other sites (outrageous 25%).

Con:
They charged me $8 to get a paper check sent to me. That's bs imo.

I used to love Ultimatebet. I think their software is the best on the net (though many folks disagree) and I love their SnG structure.

However, a few things have come up lately at U.B that have turned me off.

- The changes that "Annie Duke" (lol) has made the the tournament schedule had dampened my hopes of playing more MTT's there.

- I am 51% convinced that the lower stakes ring games are infested with bots. I don't have much proof, but there are signs I've seen of it.

- And then there's always the alleged cheating scandal that is a near duplicate to the A.P one. Coverage has been quiet so far, but it's growing.

I'm with Alien, there are a lot of benefits to the site, not the least of which is the endless bonus for those micro grinders out there. I think its OK for lo stakes, don't trust the high (there or anywhere, to be fair).

Yes there could be bots around, but they are everywhere. Bots don't scare me; crooked operators (employees or colluders) do. But again, I think they exist everywhere -- we are just unearthing a few at a time.

Yes a scandal at Ultimatebet similar to Absolute Poker, and a new multi-user scandal on another server (see 2+2 postings on this, forget the name)...

I plan to ride it out at Ultimatebet for now...

Also, re the bonus, I do about $5 every few hours played at .25-.50, and they refund in small increments (I hate it when you get 30-60 days to claim a whole amount or nothing, Stars-type bonuses). Their whole new Points theme is indecipherable, but most bonus schemes are to me -- I like to see how fast money clinks into my account as I play.

Another thing: You can get rakeback there if you are already a member; can't do that at Tilt.

I like rakethrake, can PM me if interested.
