I'm never sure what to play and what to fold in sb...

If it's the kind of hand I would normally fold in early or even middle position, should I treat it any differently because I have it in sb?

Depends entirely on the action to that point. In an unraised pot, play just about ATC, especia;;y if several limpers.

Yeah depends on action before the sb and everyone's image at the table as well. hands you could fold are like 8-3,9-3, etc.

Thanks folks - ATC = ?
So I should not feel obliged to play it simply because I'm in sb...OK, I think I had a mental block that I should only fold real rubbish in any sb call, regardless of the action preceeding.

The money you put in the pot as sb, or bb isn't yours anymore. Only relevance is that you can get into the pot for a reduced price. Much more relevant is the fact that you will be out of position rest of hand.
