Just been playing rush poker on Full tilt.

Would be interested in your thoughts.

I only played for about an hour, joined a PLO8 game with $40 and after an hour I left with the same $40, at one stage down to $18 and at another up to $66.

Is it just me, but are some of the sites trying to take away the skill and introduce the luck element more so that the rake they get is higher?

Don`t know if u guys have played, but what I see as a problem for good players are that you are doing nothing more than playing your cards - it was almost robotic!!!

Was fun to play - hand every few seconds.

I am not a great multi table player so this could be a problem for me.

Also, do u get the player points in the same way as you would at any other time on FT?

You do accru player points at the same rate as regular tables so you are getting more points by seeing a lot more hands. Rush is good for those with solid fundamentals, as even a "robotic" strategy can be profitable against the many people who still don't play as well. And its a lot of fun.

i do think rush poker takes a lot of the normal skills we use in regular games and forces luck to play a larger role yep, but maybe thats just because ive never won at it :(

I played Rush alittle bit (3k hands), and I do admit I am addicted to the fast points, but I never really made any money playing it. I would say I broke even on it. I prefer the regular ring games, but I am on the fence with Rush

You can play a great deal of hands in a short time, rack up ftp points, and rake/rakeback. It's great when you're winning. :) I think I started up 8 buy-ins and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then I finished down like 10. :) LOL. in 2 days I think I saw 2 pair river my sets for a bigger full house twice. Shoved KK's into Aces, set over setted, etc. If you're a person who tilts at all I'd stay far away from Rush. Things can get ugly fast. Really like you said I did find it pretty mindless as you're generally playing your cards.

Just seems kind of gimmicky to me. I'd rather stay at the same table with people for a while to see patterns develop. That's what poker is to me.

I tried it and it was fun. I had to collect 50 poins for 25 bucks. I guess it's all about bluffing and catching bluffs.

Not saying this is bad but would you go all in or fold with

AK, AKs, QQ, JJ or other hands in this range?

I'm not a fan of Rush Poker at all.

I have played a few Rush MTTs, built a nice stack and lose everything to bad play or a cooler although I know a few players who have done really well at the 135 player Rush SNGs.

It seems like it is an all in preflop game to me (from my experience of it anyway) and I don't intend to play it too often if at all.

Yes it earns you FTPs much faster than regular ring games but it's not worth it if you are losing money playing it.

For me, Rush seems to be the only form of cash game poker that I can truly win a decent amount at. I've tried, ring, 6max but my results and particularly my red line - non showdown winnings - are a lot better at rush.

I personally love it for the above reasons, I also enjoy the fact that FTPs accumulate quickly - that velour bathrobe will soon be mine! - and I also enjoy the pace and lack of waiting around for hands. I do not get bored and make stupid plays. I have to admit in the early days I was overplaying far too much but now I believe I've got the balance right. I also disagree that it is truly without reads. After playing for a fair time at rush - or even at the same stakes FR and 6max - you see the same faces again and again and are able to exploit that to your advantage. There are also a few "tells", if you will, that help you distinguish a players likely style and ability. E.g stack size - not buying in full and having auto re-buy on means usually that they don't really know what they're doing and other smaller but sometimes useful tells like country of origin, screenames etc. There is a very good rush video on Deuces Cracked that goes through a lot of this.

Enough rambling. I love it :)

I feel similiarly to this ^
I'm ahead in the RUSH FR tables from what I've played but tbh, I don't really like it (although it can be addicting.. but still doesn't mean I like it, lol).

As far as the SNG's go, I'd assume I would be a winning player in them.. but have only given it a shot once & just don't like the whole concept of it. I'd much prefer to play a standard 45man over RUSH anyday (although I'm sure that one is facing alot more regs. in the 45's then they would be in RUSH).
As far as the MTT's go... I played a couple of rebuy rush donkaments.. didn't like them. The stuff I like about MTT's isn't happening in RUSH (player reads, & making adjustments, etc. etc.). Just not feeling enthusiastic about investing any time in RUSH. I'd be happy if it didn't exist.

I played it a few times the last time I decided to play real aggressive and it worked pretty good. I tried re-popping with marginal hands a lot and firing on the flop and people seemed content to throw their hands away. I ended up with about 125 profit, by far the best I did at rush. I'm still not a fan of it but I guess its fun once in a while.

^^ Couldn't have said it better myself.
Rush is an exciting game, but involves far too much variance for my liking.

Not crazy about the Rush Cash Games. But I have enjoyed a few cashes at there $4.40 MTT. Pretty much ABC and if you can get to the bubble then Attack Attack Attack. Then if you can make it to the final table for real poker ive found the play to be a bit soft. I do think in the long run that the MTT's are profitable for good players.

Not a big fan myself altho I would say the amount I have played is not enough to get an accurate read on whether it will be profitable in the long run

as others have said ABC poker is probably the best way to go but with so many playing allin or fold poker the beats can sometimes be as bad as freerolls

Not for me, but to each his own

I personally don't care for it. You can't get a read on players because your at a different tabel every hand, and When you do run into an aggressive "donkey", you don't get to stick around to take his chips. Just my oppinion, and I play the tourneys not rings. Gl what ever you choose.

I am sure all of you know by now, but this goes out to my fellow CCers for Rush...If you want to fold but see your last hand, just be a d!ck and let time run out. You will be folded but do not click the "fold" button and you will hang around to see who wins. This also works for bubble play, as if you did not know already. Good Luck!
