I saw an ad on television about Full Tilt offering "Rush Poker". What exactly is it and/or how does it work? I apologize in advance if this was explained before.

there's a video tutorial there too if you want to see it in action. i recommend giving it a whirl at the smallest stakes (.02/.05) if you're interested. it's not for everyone but i think it's fun

it is like a ring tournment, that when you click fold you go to a new table with all new players. it allows you to play the perfect hands each time to start. Ak, AQ, AA, KK, QQ, JJ. starting with a great hand and being able to fold and get a new hand instead of waiting can be good. it is fast paced and fun also.

There are numerous threads about Rush floating around here.

You can get your feet wet for FREE because they have play money rush tables. I highly recommend doing it that way. These games play different (IMO). Ignore the play money part of it and play those just to figure out the mechanics of how these are played.

The RUSH tourneys play different as well. Not sure if they offer play money tourneys yet. I expect they will. Hope to see private rush tourney's as well. IMO Full Tilts solution to make the tourneys work right was brilliant. Once the tourney drops to 3 tables, they don't combine tables as the number of players drops. So with 3 tables left, you will be playing 4,5,6,7,and 8 handed tables. This keeps the flow of the game moving right along. Sort of shoot-outish at that point, but only sort of.

A single rush game will take up the mental capacity (guessing) of maybe 4 tables if you multi-table. Things can move along very quickly, especially if you are folding fast. IMO more hands = better opportunities.

Beware though, if you like these and start playing them, going back to normal tourneys may be painful....... On the other hand, learning to play rush correctly might improve your standard game. Rush can eliminate the patience issues with standard games. When you quick fold, you can see a new hand nearly instantly. So the 'waiting for a great hand' part of it is diminished.

I'm still working on this and am +BR.

I have experienced some mad swings in Rush. In rush poker it seems like JJ+ will stack off pre-flop almost everytime. In a ring game if I 4bet with AA I always get a fold, but in Rush it seems like everyone is fine shoving. Rush poker is way more aggressive than standard games, because people do not have to have a table image. They fold fold fold fold fold to a good hand, and then when they get a good hand they play it ultra-aggressive. You will find players here and there playing bad cards, but I'll never understand why.

Also - There is tons of stealing and light 3betting going on at Rush. I even see it at 25NL, which is definitely something I don't see at the standard 25NL tables.
