Actually there is a suit ranking, but the only place you'll see it is in a "Chip Race", where lower denomination chips are exchanged for higher ones. In a chip race the hand ranking for poker is typically SHCD.

you also see this at the beginning of every tourney .. when the first hand begins ... every player is dealt 1 card face up, and the player that gets the highest card is the dealer ... and if 2 or more players get the same card, the suit counts

hmmmmmmm,

I always thought if 2 players got the same card in 1st the just drew again. Just the 2 of them.

I think it As, Ah, Ac, Ad.

I could be wrong though.

Imagine if the suited counted in Holdem.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... I don't even want to think about it.

In 7 card stud high or low the ranks are:
7-Card Stud High

The highest hand wins the pot. The object of the game is to obtain the highest ranking hand to win the pot. On the first round, the low card by suit is required to initiate the action with a bet. Suits are ranked: Spades (highest), Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. On subsequent rounds, the high hand showing initiates the betting action. If hands are tied, the player to the left of the dealer acts first.

The suits are ranked in reverse alphabetical order...

Not many games use these rankings but there are official rankings of the suits.

Most powerful to least powerful:

Spades

Hearts

Diamonds

Clubs

Acey, can you please at least try and disguise the fact that you are only posting here to get to 15?

As for the order of the suits, its Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs.

It only applies when you draw a card to determine who's the dealer to start. If two players draw Aces, then you go by suit rankings.

If card ranks apply, how can the hands ever be tied?

This has been said about 6 times so far on this thread, you shouldnt need any more replies.

This does not effect in any way which hand is a winner, it ONLY applies to who starts the game as the dealer.

I've got it now crippler, but I was confused, because, as you can see from the quotes here, some of the members didn't quite agree

thank you Four Dogs for the complex reply, and everyone else
