Im playing live 1/2 nlhe at crown casino melb. Im heads up in a pot when i make my flush on the river.
The player bets and i come over the top allin, he thinks for a bit and says "call', just as that happens the dealer takes his cards and mucks them saying that he thought the man had said fold.
The dealers takes the bottom two cards from the muck and asks them man if they are his and he says no.
The floor is called over and he asks the man what he had and the man says he had 2 pair and admits he said call.
The floor decides that he doesnt have to put the rest of his chips in to make the call and i only get what he originally bet out.
Im not frustrated by the decison and was just wondering was it the right thing to do.

P.s: the player had a chip on top of his cards as well.

i think he should've had to double you up. im not sure why the floor was allowed to make any call regarding the chips. he admitted he had 2 pair, you obviously had a flush, he called your all in, what's to make a judgment call on? i think you got gipped =(

The... dealer took cards from a player that had a chip on them? That's the biggest no-no a dealer could ever make.

I really don't know what to think. It should be the casino that is penalized in this case, not the other player. Had he not had a card protector, it would have been an easy decision. But here... Sheesh.

I cant believe they did that . did you not protest and just say forget it? I dont think I would have been as forgiving not with a card protecter on opponents cards and dealer taking them .. It was clearly not legal .They would have had to call up the eye in the sky or something .There is no doubt it was dealers fault..

I dont know how the dealer can take the players cards without the players permission.

I was playing live in Laughlin a couple of years ago. 1/2 limit. UTG and middle position were in a pot toward the end, and UTG had re-raised mid-guy's raise. Mid-guy went into the tank, slammed down his cards in front of him (but not over the line), and leaned back in his chair.

The dealer reached over the line and grabbed his cards.

Mid position guy yelled immediately and play stopped. The dealer explained that he thought mid-position guy had mucked. Mid-position guy said he was leaning back looking around for an aces cracked bonus offer (he had pocket aces). Floor person ruled the guy had mucked and backed the dealer. Turns out UTG had 2pair, and had him beat anyway - to make matters worse - there was no aces cracked bonus in play.

I've NEVER heard of a dealer pulling cards from someone protecting. I would just raise holy hell if that happened.

Wow, the dealer really F'd up there. There is no way he should have touched those cards, especially being protected. The floor person is just as bad, imo. The player should have been committed to the all in call. What a ripoff. You're nicer than me. :)

I guess micky mouse B&M casinos are no different the micky mouse online sites, a dealer should NEVER touch a players cards till their thrown in the muck, the casino should have doubled you up and got the dealer a new hearing aid. Imagine if this happened to Helmuth? it would be on utube in seconds.

lmao that would be good to watch.

I guess i would have a bigger deal about it had i been more comfortable playing there, as it was only my second session playing live.
