This is kind of a noob question, so I stuck it here.

I'm getting rakeback on FTP and I was wondering if anyone can answer if playing in a freeroll effects your rakeback.

I checked on their site and I'm not sure if it does or doesn't :p

If anyone can answer this I would appreciate it.

frerolls have no influence on your rakeback.

rakeback is a % of the rake you generate and get back.

freerolls have no rake so no rakeback there

Yea - some of them do affect it though I can't explain the details of that to you.

I was just wondering since I do get into some of the Freerolls on FTP. Plus I have a Fantasy Freeroll on sunday.

I'll just pay attention to see if I take a hit or not. I also have an e-mail into rakebackpros, so we'll see.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Now this is if you play in any of them or is it only when you cash?

when you play...

ie fantasy 2000 prize money 1000 players = 2 dollars value

2 dollars x .27 = .54 cents you lose from rakeback

Much appreciated for the example.

That was what I was looking for to figure things out.

:)

In my limited experience... seems like it almost always does.

Thanks Hordling for asking the question and thanks pfb8888 for the example.
It really doesn't make much sense, but thems is the rules.
Shame it takes so long to learn these little intricacies of the game.
One could play good poker for years without knowing such things,

Hey No problem, I know I didn't know and was fairly new to RB even after a couple years on FTP.

Glad I have it but I'm still working out of the negative due to all the Freerolls I was entered into over the Fantasy Poker Season. (I made money so it was worth it).

At one point I'll get my Rakeback going in the positive direction. :p

i think the only freerolls exempt might be the ones offered by rake sites.

I was under the mistaken impression that you only got charged negative rakeback when you cash in a freeroll, but thanks to this thread I found out it counts against you just for entering. I've got enough of a bankroll now that I'll just stop playing any freerolls except private ones.

I've noticed that the big freeroll ones (I.E. 7500 people for a 45 prize pool) doesn't hit you very hard at all. For me it was the Fantasy Freeroll ones that did me in.... 5k prize pool with only 300ish people.

So if you use pfb equation above you can figure it out pretty well before you even enter. The ones with the overlay are a bit tougher to figure out prior do to so many late registerations.

Actually this ^ is not true (as OP is aware). Alot of folks who are newer to getting rakeback (or don't really look into it) don't realize all the stuff you can get deductions on.. ie. private freerolls, guar. prizepools exceeding the # of entrants, 'cash-added' priv. games, spending FTPs....
I've had a few weeks where my rakeback was - (negative). Need to stay away from those 650FTP sng satellites & the 2,500 mtt satellites,.. they eat up the rakeback pretty quickly (at least they do for a microdonk like me)

I do not think RB takes a hit from private freerolls? Unless Full Tilt puts up the prize money.

It doesn't effect your rake at all. The only thing rakeback has a effect on is points.

So better to use money account to buy in,
and swap the frequent player points for a porsche.

I've noticed that Full Tilt Academy points that are redeemed for tickets do NOT hit Your rakeback. If your interested in a way to use some sort of Full tilt bonus like features without taking a hit.

Freerolls like CC ones negatively affect rakeback, its not much of a hit but it is still a hit.
