Just wanted to know what was out there, how it works, any recommendations, etc...

Has anyone ever gotten rakeback on an older account?

27% is the standard. If you have an existing account the only thing you can do is email FT and ask. If you are already attached to an affiliate they will say so and you will never get RB. If you are not they will send you an email saying that you have been put on a list and you have a pretty good chance of getting it eventually from rakebackpros (basically FT's own rb site). On an existing account this is your only hope.

Thanks, guess I'll give it a try.

How does rakeback even work? How is the site making money?

Yeah, I did that a few months ago, but unfortunately haven't heard from them since . . . I do have rakeback on another couple of sites, but I would be inclined to start playing on FT if they ever come around to making good on their promise.

I wish they'd just let players choose with whom they are affiliated . . . their current policies of complete inflexibility could only possibly hurt their business, imo. :(

How does rakeback even work? How is the site making money?

Rb is just a discount on the rake you pay. Say for instance you play 30K/month at 100nl and you pay ~$1200 in rake each month. With no rb that's the end of it. With rb you'd get ~$325 back into your FT account (some pay weekly, some you choose when to get paid). Rb can be a huge factor on your bottom line and through 50nl it generally adds 1BB/100 to your overall winnings.

The site is still making money, just 27% less from you (the actual number is actually more than 27% because the rb site itself is getting something as well). Basically the sites that offer it do it as a form of advertising to get people to choose their site. If FT didn't offer it, more people would play at Stars just because the support is so much better there than at Tilt.
