I was hoping to be able to play in the WCOOP... I just won an impromptu satellite SNG for event #4 (NLHE match play -- one of the cheaper ones)!!

Unfortunately, I see now that it's at 3pm EST which is no good, so I think I'll either play event #1 Razz or event #8 HORSE. Problem is, these two events (plus #16) seem to be missing from the list on the site right now. Hmmmm...

Either way, something to look forward to! Looks like we'll have a few participators.

Many thanks Chuck, and Buck also!

I'm really looking forward to it. It should be a fun experience if nothing else.

And like I always tell my girlfriend: any oportunity to acquire a gaudy gold bracelet is alright with me.

Ok, bit of a quandry here, looking for some advice.

For whatever reason I decided to play another satellite to qualify for the WCOOP (or another $200+15 buy-in, at least), and again I decided to try my hand at the NLHE match play. I must have done a good deed lately or something because I won that one as well.

So here's the issue. I now have 2x $200+15 WCOOP buy-ins, but really I can only play on weekends as the weekday games start at 3pm EST and my workday isn't quite over yet then (weekend games start at 4:30pm EST).

So, which game to play? Here's the list of weekend games:

Event #1 - Razz - Saturday, September 16 - $200+15 (guarantee supports 500 players, so I expect at least that many)
Event #2 - NLHE - Sunday, September 17 - $500+30
(guarantee supports 5,000 players)
Event #8 - HORSE - Saturday, September 23 - $200+15 (guarantee supports 500 players)
Event #9 - PLHE - Saturday, September 23 - $500+30 (guarantee supports 800 players)

The other weekend events all cost >$1,000 to play, which is a tad steep for me.

So... I consider my relative strength to be Omaha, as it is highly mathematical and I find many players who play it don't play it very well. NLHE is certainly next, and many of you have played with me so you know how good/not good I tend to be at that. I am familiar with all forms of Stud but I would be lying if I said I'd mastered them - though for the record, it took me less than a month of reading and playing to get up the Omaha learning curve.

Here are my choices:

- Pool my T$ together and play either the NLHE or PLHE events. I have no reason to favour PLHE so I would certainly play the NLHE. Pros: I'm probably playing to my own strengths here, as I am a patient and reasonably experienced NLHE tourney player. Cons: it's a lot of T$ for one buy-in, and of course NLHE is almost everyone's strongest game, so it will be a huge field of experienced players.

- Play the two $200+15 buy-ins. Conveniently, they overlap, so though I am not a master of Stud I could focus the next month to becoming one as fast as possible (read Super System 1+2, any other book I can find, play as many Stud/HORSE tourneys as I can get my hands on, etc). Pros: diverisifies my T$ by buying into 2 events, more likely to get further with a smaller field, maybe the other players won't be so good at Stud either (doubtful). Cons: not playing to my current strengths.

- Play just one of the $200+15 buy-ins, almost certainly HORSE, and use the rest for SNGs and stuff.

Thoughts? I value your opinions!

* PS: Yes, I know that $200+15 + $200+15 does not equal $500+30 for the higher buy-in. But in addition to my won satellites, I took a portion of my bankroll and played some heads up matches and SNG to raise the rest of the money, and finished that goal last night. So I formally have enough T$ for the 2 smaller events, but I can make the difference for the larger one as well.

I would say go for the events with fewer entrants (i.e. the Razz and HORSE games). From what I am reading, competition on these games is soft, and a player like yourself could do some research/study and have the upper hand for sure.

No matter what you decide, best of luck! :)

First off well done on qualifing. My suggestion would be just what youve said there. If per chance the size of the buy-in's affect your play in any way then here at least you get to play one, and make some profit from the other buy-in.

Great advice, guys. Consistent with what my heart is telling me. I think I'm going to gear up for the Razz and HORSE events, and give them both a shot. It will be a great experience if nothing else, and my Razz prep will help the HORSE game later.

It helps that Stars has added Razz and HORSE SNGs, so not only will practicing be easier, but I'll be able to use the skills later.

Especially if the tables are as soft as Tenbob describes them!

WCOOP

Is there a limit to the number of entrants that can play in any of these tourneys? Usually on PStars thay tell you that there is a limit of entrants, but I haven't seen anywhere that there is a limit in the WCOOP. I was wondering because I wanted to wait for a while before I started switching the events that I won in satellite for the ones I think I could win at until closer to the starting dates, but if there is a limit to entrants then I might have to hurry up and switch - - - - tough decision.

I might be playing in the O8 one (maybe razz and s8 also), if I have enough money by than im gonna bite the bullet and just pay to enter instead of playing the awful sattelites. I was playing an o8 turbo rebuy (30 minute rebuy hour) wasted $70 on that piece of garbage was an all in fest after 30 minutes (this is in fixed limit o8). Goodluck in wahtever you play.

If you like NLHE but timing is bad, i'd say go for PLHE.

There was no problem with events getting capped last year. In any case, it will show in the tourney lobby if there is a maximum number of players.
