In my opinion every tool to a poker game and validates such as chat one but I think we have to learn to use them, some of the activities that matters chat at the tables and the communication of a possible agreement on the final table chat converts players between them and with the tournament moderator, as I said every good tool to use to know ...

I have never used the discuss a deal option at fulltilt, there is a checkbox if you want to discuss a deal. In that case, i completely agree the chat option should be activated.

I agree with the chat in the poker sites we play. Even to make future friendships , and also to make an agreement on final tables .

To play mind games and try your opponent to fold hands they would have called or raised with and vice versa.
The other day I saw someone talking about how important position is while he was on the CO. After that he went all in trying to pretend he was stealing. He had AA... and me in the BB called... That was the end of me in that tourny.

I would rather have chat banned. Having played many competitive video games and been on the internet for many hours of my life, I can tell you it would be a godsend for poker sites to allow a disable chat feature (ACR has it, not BetOnline).

In real life I have no problem with interacting with people, good or bad I'm always glad with the outcome. Online it's really not worth it. Just a hassle most of the time and i'd rather not see it if I don't have to.

Lol chatting used respectfully is part of the game oh and disrespectfully also i guess.

Oh moosepaw excuse me but it is real life lol.

If you dont like chatting dont but there are a number of people that do use it. I have friends on the tables and I like to chat with them about one thing or the other. Most sites allows you to disable chat. One question I must ask if a person doesnt like chat on a poker table why are they even reading the chat in the first place.

well....in bigger tournaments, with bigger I mean loads of players I actually don't chat at all.
Though, a while ago I regularly played 2-7 and badugi games, where there were the same regulars over and over again and with some of them there grew really nice and friendly conversations in the chat.
I even met some of these people in real life.
Even now, when I ocasionally play one of these games and meet one of these people the chat goes on.

Also, what would for example CC-league games be without the chat ?

During a 6 hour tournament sometimes its fun to chat, especially when people are dodl'ing and waiting the clock. I've had some fun conversations with random people, and fun arguments. I've also had people send friends invites afterwards.
There are a few people who I expect to see at some weekly games on specific sites.
If you don't like chat, I am fairly certain unibet has no chat in game.
Sportsbetting allows chat even in all-in situations which I like, while Ironpoker and pokerstars and Full tilt dont allow it I think.

freerolls - Sometimes you can use the chat to get everyone to go all in on a hand, if you win it there's a decent chance of getting past the bubble :D

Chat can also be used to pick up on whether or not someone is steaming over a bad beat. Sometimes a player will tell their cards in the chat which can be used as information as well. A lot of times you can tell if someone is a bad player. Usually bad players complain in chat about everything, whether they didnt hit their outs or that the site is rigged everytime they lose. I usually try to be polite to people in chat and usually dont say anything so that they do not get so upset they leave and dont come back and lose more.

I mostly play tournaments - and I like the chat feature. Never had any positive chat experience at a cash table... but in MTT - I made occasionally friends, occasionally had a good discussion about a hand etc. For the most part for people like me - (casual player) it is part of the social nature of the game. You can say - nice hand to someone that made a nice play - etc.
True at times it can get real nasty - but I rather handle that as opposed to not having chat ability.
If you don't like it - in most cases you can block it...
Also you can just ignore it - which is what I do when I multitable - and just don't have enough time to pay attention.

Oh = just now - one other use of chat - sometimes new at site people - (could be me) ask for assistance as to how to find some setting...

We have a number of quality members who first heard of CC as a result of tourney or SNG chat.

Makes on-line Poker more social, less impersonal. You can use it however you like, bit I'd suggest not venting. It's not good live, and it's not good on-line either. In neither case, is it in your interest to let everyone know how much that bad beat got to you. It only invites them to take more shots at you if they figure you're vulnerable. You also don't want to be wising up the fish by telling them how bad they are and what they're doing wrong.

You can sometimes get a better line on the other players, depending on what they chat about.

Poker is a social game so it needs to be there. However, I suggest never using it (i.e., turning it off). The possible useful information that you might gain from it is counter-balanced very negatively by the distraction that it is and the often very vitriolic nasty comments.

I probably use chat more than most. After sitting at a tournament for hours It makes the game more personal. We are playing against other people after all, not the computer. It's sometimes therapeutic right after a big loss to exchange hand information. I will sometimes turn it off though if someone is being particularly annoying, but by and large I like my little window on the world.

When it comes to League Games, where chat is always friendly, its nice to talk to like minded individuals and get to know them better.
