Hello friends, I am chromestar on pokerstars and I 'm playing these tournaments. They are long and there are many players playing crap hands. They recommend that strategy ? Some of you are playing ?

Hi! Yeah, I do play these and in general it's a waste of time:)
About strategy, well, I'm very patient at the begging, try to play many hands, especially drawing ones.
A very important thing is to get 3000-5000 chips in the begging and it's not easy since there are a lot of guys who don't respect your bets/raises and those who shoves any 2 cards.

Im playing these tournaments, so far ive cashed thrice recently. Cashed $1.22, $0.18 and $0.32 so far. Tough to do well because lots of players go all in and you are compelled to go all in sometimes even if you dont really want to, all the same this is what you get for free. Other than that they are good time pass.

Yeah, I too play it. Have made ITM a lot of times, but no deep run yet (Usually my overly dominating hand gets crushed).

I've played loose, I've played tight. I think "Tight is Right". Play Tight and Aggressive, you'll make money a lot of times.

Chromestar recently was played many 100k but the problem is as many people say and little money!

The strategy used was to go at dawn because they enter fewer players and many are passive attacks and the more is better.

Another thing is I know very observant because it is paramount.

I play these daily sort of anyways.
I play all in until I get to either 4800 chips usually within the first ten minutes.
If I get to the 4800 I just sit out the rest of the game and make a min cash between 20 and 40 cents.
It works out to around $6 per hour played which you would be lucky to make by playing the whole game and making final table. :)
It adds $15_$30 a month to my bankroll for FREE. :D

It was more interesting to playing this tournament about 2-3 years ago, there was not so many players=more prizes. In 2012, for the 6th place I won 67$. Now if you take 6th place you will get only 35-40$.

I play all-in/fold during first 30 minutes, and later as usual low buy-in tour. It allows to minimize time for playing without any profit, but if i have big stack after 30 minutes, chances to win are much greater.

That's not a good plan. You're looking at it as any other tourney. Hit big or Go home, but that doesn't work in these, 'cause Big is only for the top 6-7.

Lets say you play these 2-3 times a day in a month, that gives you 60-90 games/month. If you play tight and get an average money of $0.20-0.30 per game, you're up $12-$27 dollars/month. Not to mention, the occasional big run. That's not bad if you're freeroll-ing.

I'm on an average of 0.27 in nearly 70 games, that's $16.90 from freeroll.

In this tournament usually played +10k players. That means very high variance, there is no strategy, only luck...

While there is a great deal of luck involved there is some sound strategy involved.
Never, ever, re-buy. The money is just too small until you get deep to make it worth it.
I've found that just waiting until you get high premium hands (A-Q, A-K, JJ,QQ,KK,AA) and shoving or calling any all-in works really well. Just play the odds and win more times than you lose. My #1 rule is if I have enough to make the money I shut right down and make the money unless I get a monster I have to play then just try to level up as far as I can until I nearly blind out or get some good cards. You start with 1200, if I get to 4000 I can make the money every time (unless I get a hand I HAVE to play) by slowing the table down by using the full 14 seconds every single hand. This has the added bonus of frustrating the heck out of the other players and inducing a call when I finally get a monster.

I make the final 100 several times a month and a final table 4-5 times a year .
I have also actually won 2 100k tourneys, with the most recent one at 7 AM on Christmas day.
My first win was Oct 2 2013, 1/9,203 for $294.12
My 2nd win was Dec 25 2015, 1/16,750 for $178.36

Just sharkscope orsino12 to verify this isn't just BS;)

Congrats Doug! That's pretty impressive. I got to FT only once in that game. Finished 6th I think for around $68 .. Not bad :)
Sad part is that Pokerstars took away only freeroll that was worth playing so no more 100k privilege game for us

This was a good promo that poker stars offered for the rec player to extend their playing time on their deposits and keep them interested.
I am not impressed by what they have done to replace it so far.
I never won much at it but it did keep me interested in playing and depositing there.
With four main rooms left the one that does the best job at attracting players that deposit and lose on a regular basis will come out ahead and right now Poker stars are falling behind.

Yes agree free trying to win money, very tempting for the player

This was a great tourney for players like me. I pretty much play freerolls and micro Sit & Go's and spin and go's while watching TV after work so winning between $0.30 - $1 would fund a few games which I am usually able to compound my winnings, or when I do lose it helps offset the losses.

It sucks they got rid of the 100k's (as well as the 10and 20FPP Bronzestar as well as the $5000 weekly Chromestar tourneys). This was my favorite tourney since way back when Full Tilt had the Daily $1 ($10000 guaranteed and often only 6000 players in it).

Looking around the only thing I see left are the weekly Round 2 $2000 freerolls and I never cared for the way they are structured or most of the games they choose for Sunday (I hate Omaha and limit hold 'em which seem to make up most of the games)
