From the poker stars promotions page:

10,000 player Sit & Go’s

Also running during World Record Week will be a series of 10,000 player Sit & Go’s, with extra cash added to the prize pools. We expect these to fill up very quickly, so be sure not to miss out.
  • $1 buy-in
  • Up to 10 tournaments will run during the weekend of December 27-28, 2008
  • $10,000 added to each Sit & Go
  • Tournaments will appear in the Lobby on December 27 and begin when 10,000 players have registered. Once one tournament is full, it will start immediately and be replaced by another event
To find the tournaments, go to the pokerstars Lobby and select ‘Sit & Go’ and ‘All’. These tournaments can also be found by using the Sit & Go Filter.

Mind boggling.

I would love to hear the logic of calling these sit'n'goes.

I was wonderind that too, but I guess sngos are defined as any game that begins when filled, while tournaments have definite start times. Pokerstars already has 360 plyr sngos and 180 plyr tournaments.

Nice money added, but I assume these will be 5 min blinds. No mention of the blind or payout structure. I'm sure I'll give atleast one of these a try...thanks for the heads up, TRB.

A sit and go is any tourney that begins when a certain number of players are registered, rather than starting at a specific time. While you may think of a sit and go as a smaller tournament, that is not always the case.

True. These are nothing but multi-table SNGs. They're basically just the big brother of the 180 man SNGs. :)

What is next

A sign up South Dakota SnG. $40,000 (added). It costs $5 and starts when everyone in South Dakota signs up. At least those with an adequate internet connection.

SOrry about the sad attempt at humor on X-Mas eve. My A-game is on Holiday....

10,000 players with a $1 buy in. Depending on the payout structure may just be a giant headache.

Looks like they are splashing cash on every 1,000,000th hand in ring games too. Even micro stakes.

I think I'm going to attempt to play in one or a few of these SnG's. I'm curious how long one of these will last? I would say one of these bad boys will run at least 4 hours. If they are adding $10,000 that means it will be a $20,000 SnG, that is pretty sweet! The Sunday Million this weekend is going to be sweeeeeet too!

Yea, Bella already got some Christmas loot in a stud game.
This is the 3rd or 4th time I'm saying this--Stars 25% bonus also a sweet promo.

Weee - turned my step 3 ticket into a step 4 ticket so gonna use it in the warm-up or Sun mil this weekend. They have the guarantees juiced up for this event.

Congrats dakota. I played a ton of the steps SNGS this past spring trying to win a wsop package. Got one step 5 ticket and flamed out in that one.

I would consistently finish 3rd or 4th so that I could try again, and occassionaly finish 1st or 2nd so I could move up a step. But went out early when I final made step 5.

Good luck in whatever you choose to play in this Sunday.

I don't like to playing step in SNG but good job to coming so far :)

Well it would be tough to work your way up - I was lucky enough to win my step 3 in a freeroll and don't have any money invested at all. :p

Well I thought I was going to play in this, but I have two visa gift cards, one is a "Walmart GreenDot" card and the other is a "WesBanco" and neither one of those mofo's work! How dissapointing.. I'll have to figure something else out I suppose.

It's easy. You put up your dollar, 10,000 entries trigger the start.

You 'sit' down immediately, go all-in and you get up and 'go'. ... :D

But seriously, as mentioned later, it is really that it has a number trigger, not a time trigger. Most folks (rightfully so...) think that 'SnG' means it is a rapid start game, small number of entries, and you 'go' in a reasonable time frame.

The actual meaning I've seen before is exactly as it says. You 'sit' and it 'goes' as soon as a magic designated entry number is reached. Has no relationship to the amount of time needed to play.

I might try to play in one of these SNG's but i believe the problem with Pokerstars is that they don't allow freeroll players to build their bankroll up seriously the fields for the weekly round 1's are to big but with FT you can easily accumilate FTP points which can be used to satelite into some nice tourneys and they have regular freerolls that cater for different types of players and take less time and have less of a field that PS

What a great idea from Pokerstars,to come up with a series of 10,000 seater $1 sng's.
This is a great opportunity for players who can only afford,or who only like to enter small entry fee games,to get a chance of winning a nice amount of cash.:)
I don't know for sure,but these could pay down to 1,000th place,or have a $1,000 1st place prize.
Will deff give one of these a bash.

does anyone have any idea how many of these SNG's they are going to run, and at what time are they going to start sign ups?
