Most know that pokerstars is changing the FPP points to StarCoins.

FPP will be converted to star coins at a rate of 1.2 star coin for 1 FPP. Effective January 1st. Every Star coin will have a fixed value of 0.01 cent.

So if we take the $55 ticket that cost 3500 Points.

3500 x 1.2 = 4200 star coins

4200 coins at 0.01 value is $42

Our 3500 points that was previously worth $55 will be worth $42 after the changes. So our current 3500 points would not be enough to buy the $55 ticket after the changes come into play.

I been on a poker binge and am a little tired.... Is there an error in the above information / something I might be leaving out ? Because as it looks to me ... the safe bet might be to cash in what ever points you have before the changes take place in January.

PokerStars link to the changes >>https://www.pokerstars.com/vip/changes/

Edit:
Cash Rewards 5000 coins will be worth $25 No Vip restrictions.

I will analyze it.
I understand, pokerstars changes would be for the better.

Cashed mine in to be safe. Just traded for a $162 ticket. Going to be the first time playing that tourney. Went on a decent run were my hands were holding into a horrible one. So hopefully this game turns it back around.

@op... yes you are correct, the current fpp's lose a lot of value once converted.

I will analyze it.

This is what they want people to think, sure it's better for the people who earn very little fpp's as it stands now. Anyone above chromestar gains nothing and in fact the hire teir's lose a lot while chromestar boosts about 10% effectively 30c from what I have read.

If it takes the same amount of rake to get 1 starcoin as it does 1vpp then effectively its like a 50% rakeback reduction .... isn't that great.

I am only GoldStar but the value of FPP ( starcoins ) going down certainly sucks. I could hit platimumStar but see little reason to do so.

If anyone has points on here .. cash them in before the value goes down.

On a side note I traded my points as stated above and managed to take down The Hot $25K gntd for a little over $7 Grand.

Yeah, its probably not 50% reduction, just had a look and seems you still get roughly 1.2 stacoins for each vpp in the odd steps program they are introducing just having a glance at the lowest levels 5 vpp's = 7 star coins.

Regardless still a 25% drop in what you can trade for in vip store.

Nice score sir, been using my fpp's for some 6max satties as didn't have a whole lot built up and was the quickest way for me to get a base br going to rebuild after a full cash out. As strange as it is will probably contemplate grinding on ACR in the new year since its 27% rakeback is basically just shy of the 2016 supernova rewards.

I guess we shall see how the changes really impact come the new year but I mean for anyone doing any serious playing looking at the rewards on the top tier's or even just as a supernova was always a motivator IMO and without it there are better rewards elsewhere.

Just want to bump this thread as a reminder to anyone who has FPP in their account and have the option to trade at a better rate than 1000 for $10 to go and trade them before the value shrinks in a few short days.
