Excuse my ignorance or if i have posted this in the wrong section, as ive just joined the other day :)

My question is im only in the micros 5nl almost rolled for 10nl, but what im having trouble trying to work out is how many hands a day/week/month ect im going to need to make silver or gold status by then end of the month in the new yr, with the stars new VIP system. Im also only new to stars and have only recently moved my roll across from FTP, so its all a lil foreign to me. ive read the recent posts ect on the subject about the changes, but maybe i sit around and drink to much beer these days coz i still cant find out my own answer, ive tried fpppro.com but they only go as low as 25nl.

Any help or info or how many hands ill need ect for those stakes would be much appreciated. Its a pretty broad question and maybe you guys may need some more info off me im not to sure.

Thx for ne help

PS has a calculator on their website so you can put in your info and it will tell you what status you should achieve based upon the limits you play, style and time played at those limits/styles.

PS has disabled the calculator until mid-Jan, when it will reflect the changes to the program...

You know what...after reading there new rules for the VIP stuff. I would not even try. Hear why to have silver you need close to 2,000 points a month, but now they are saying that they are going to re-set the points every month. It saids Note: Your monthly VPP counter resets at the beginning of each month. To maintain a particular level in the VIP Club, you must earn the required VPPs in the following month in order to stay at that VIP level or to advance to the next level. That’s a punch of bull there you should be able to keep your points not have to work for them again to say at the same level.

But to answer your question point are given in two ways: In a ring game depends on the bind amount, you must win a big pot to earn points. Like the .01/.02 binds the pot I think must be above I think .30 c to earn the points.
The second way is to enter tournaments: buy in tournaments offer points as well so if you buy in a 1 dollar tor. then you get one point. if it like 10 dollar tor. then I think you get 32 points just by entering.

I use to like how pokerstars did the vip program, but now they are turning it to .....well you know....I like full tilt better due to they have happy hours and during happy hours you can earn double points during that and getting points in rings games are very low there as well.

yea i see wot u mean, ive been doin some research and thinking, and i think i might just stick out 10nl there, hopefully beat that for a good amount and move up too 25nl and move my roll over to a site with rakeback. i was a big FTP player in the micros but the rake was a killer 25nl and below and, yea i might look at that. unless some1 thinks otherwise.

So maybe i might even go back to ftp, at 25nl or another site. more then likely ftp.... well see....:)

First off the PS calculator was always pretty inaccurate so even if it was working it would have been no use.

If your looking to eventually get to platinum or above then Stars would deffo be worth transferring over to imo. I'm not sure how many hands you will require to achieve your target, but if you do have some money there what you can do is open up some tables at the level you play at and play for an hour. Work out your VPP's for that hour and you should then be able to calculate what you need from that data.
