They are a business. What you are doing is not a boycott - you are exercising the free market principle of supply and demand.
pokerstars raises the price, so you don't want to pay.
That means either Pokerstars will still make money - maybe even more money - with the higher rake despite the decrease in number of players or enough players won't play that they are forced to lower the rake.
But there is no part of supply and demand that says that you should make other players do what you call a "boycott." Every player can make an individualized decision as to whether or not they're willing to pay the higher rake.
People confuse Pokerstars as a commodity when it is in fact a business. Because Pokerstars has been the leader in
online poker for over a decade, players and the poker community have become quite dependent on it. That is what Pokerstars the company wants, because that means it can raise the rake to try to increase its profits, as businesses do, and players will still play.
Pokerstars has no responsibility to do what's good for the poker community. They are a business - a very smart business - and I believe they've done all the math and surveys and market research and have found the most profitable action going forward is raising the rake on turbo MTTs. As a consumer, it is your and anybody's right to no longer be willing to pay the higher rake - but I doubt even a major boycott by people on this forum or any forum could make a noticeable effect leading to Pokerstars making less money. So make your decision, but stop calling it a boycott.
