In germany there is a law, saying you should pay taxes on the INPUT sum of all games of luck you play, not only poker but also lotto and so on. The good news is that if you win, you do not need do pay taxes on the amount you won, just on the INPUT amount.

My question:

Does somebody know, whether by pokerstars taxes are automatically retracted or should everyone keep a book on his input and then report to the fiscal authorities at the end of the year?

Thanks in advance and regards!

I heard there's some preferences in austria but don't know which. PokerStars don't pay, their main goal is to collect money. I doubt it is good to pay taxes on the INPUT sum. Imagine minimum prize is 1.5 buy in(as at wsop). And now PokerStars wants to make 1.1 buy in(for live events). Really.. better think about Austria.
