Just a quick question. I've recently started playing these (pokerschool open skill league tourneys) again after reading a post in here about them but there's something that I've always wondered about regarding them. In the pokerstars table info box it says 1080 places paid, however, in the tourney lobby it says 90 places paid. Has anyone got any idea why these two are different?

if i follow you correctly it because its 90 at the beginning but as the player pool expands it changes to a bigger money list like to 1080. i would save my time if i were you. the poker school freerolls are a waste of time you will spend hours playing there just to win a few cents. not worth it dude. try poker heaven they just finished a poker league that was worth playing its also a very good site like pokerstars

Unfortunately it's not that. In the tourney lobby it says 90 players paid but in the info box (below the chat box when undocked) it says 1080. I thought it may be something specific to do with the league. I know they're not ideal but it was just the idea of playing in a league that appealed to me

It does have to do with the league scoring. The 1080 would be considered in the money for the league since that is the standard payout formula but since in terms of real money it would translate to fractions of cents sp all of the fractions of cents go to the first place winner of the tournament.
You get I believe it is 3 leaderboard points for in the money which in this case would be the 1080 places.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for clearing that up for me I always wondered. I'm just trying to post a screenshot to show what I meant but don't know how well it'll work

I may be wrong but I believe those are where points are given when in that position or better. That may be meant as being paid. Never noticed it before but I know when tables are full (10000) at 2400 they have like a bubble situation. And at 1440. and @ slash if you rank top in the leaderboard you can win up to 1500 dollars. I find it worth to play. I got paid

It is actually at 2500 where that bubble like situation occurs and it is at the 25% remaining point. I believe that there is a big shift in the points when that 25% of the field remains although I have never looked at the exact formula.
I usually try to make it to that point then up my aggression level a notch or two.

Good job maik.
Keep in mind that if you get 3 consecutive finishes in games that you play in you qualify for next months Big Bang tourney. One down and two to go. Good luck.

made the second at 90 but failed at 3rd :(
climbing nicely on the leaderboard though :)

I found the answer
You may notice, especially in our Open Skill League tournaments, a difference between the announced payout in the "Tournament Info" and in the tournament lobby. Here is the explanation:

The "Tournament Info" displays the theoretical payout of the prize pool as a percentage. When the actual prize amount for a place drops below $0.01 the prize is not credited to the player, but instead added to the prize of the tournament winner.

The PokerSchool Skill League points are calculated with the theoretical prize distribution. For example, a player that is theoretically entitled to a prize below $0.01 will receive no actual money award for the tournament, but he will still receive the additional three Skill League points for finishing in the money.

Top 1080 get + some points, while others get - points. You get more points the better you finish. Points get higher significantly for being In the Money or in the final table.

You have to play a lot of games but it is quite easy to get enough points to reach the top 2000 for a payout of either 50 cents or $2.50 depending on how many player points you have,
The top 500 is a little tougher for a payout of $1 or $5.
It is a lot of games so it is mostly a labor of love.

It's difficult to get points, isn't it?

starting 1600 points
think top 10% get the points
but it is depending on your current ranking.
if you are ranking top, even you get top 10%, you may still lost 60 points something.

the online school have there points system.
you may need 20 or 150 VPP or something to join in, cos the payment would be higher.

PS: think premium league is much worth playing...because 1st of the league got something like 1.5K USD prize?

Just make sure you make the first tier for the points.
If ya go out before then its minus negative points.

I have made it into the top 200 a few times by trying my hardest to make the first tier in most of the tourneys.

It's difficult to get points, isn't it?

In the begi or when you get 1500 points, it's so easy to get them, the first 30% of the filed will get points but you will get much more when you will be in the top 6.25%

After, when you will have a score of 1800, 2000 and more , earning points is harder, for example , when you have 2200 points you have to be in the top 14% to get points.

Hope this help:)

poker stars. I wonder what this software and what kind of game is this? It is about who gets the first pull all the cards that have not even ditno in first stage. Then in the middle stages, as long as you have a strong card that currently the smallest controlled if you pay for it is impossible to get because it will seem like the joker out of the river.
