I just recently downloaded pokerstars again. I had play on it several years ago and did'nt real care for it. Am I missing something as to why it is so popular? Their freerolls have way too many people (10,000-12,000). I could'nt make a deposit there. I know I'm U S citizen but I have'nt had a problem depositing into bodog and Ultimate Bet. I guess I could get one of those all access cards to deposit but, so far I don't see any reason to go to all that trouble to buy one. What am I missing. Can any one tell me what makes it a good site to play on. Thanks

thanks

I like pokerstars. i like the fact that i can put my own pic in there. i can see the city other players are in. less rude players than UB & AP. ya there may be large fr but CC has them there and are very small. as far as making a deposit, i use the instant Echeck and have not had a problem. anyway gl see ya on the felt.

Theres two things PokerStars does better then any other sites out there. The first is its Customer Support which is unrivalled anywhere. They have and excellant Customer Support team, which are very quick effeceint ect. Basically if you have a problem, they make it their mission to fix it as soon as possible. The second this PS does better then other sites (at least in my opinion) is there micros. FullTilt only goes down to 10NL, whereas PS goes all the way to 2NL. The rakes better on the SnGs, AND they have super-micro (10c and 20c) SnGs. Personally, I prefer the layout, the lobbies, the table just about everything.

I know a few other sites have it now as well, but the instant replay of a hand is a very cool feature. Personally I do not like Pokerstars very much, but that feature is awesome!

Out of all the poker sites I play, I honestly dislike PokerStars for one reason. The sheer amount of people that play there. I like a smaller community of people on my poker sites. I seem to run into more plain idiots and donkeys there more than anywhere. They have an awesome set up, i do give them thatbut again its all the dummies that turn me off.

You dont like running into idiots and donkeys?? Where the hell do you make your money? If I found a site which was ONLY idiot and donkeys (party poker comes close) then Id deposit my entire savings there and expect to be a millionaire in a year (haha maybe not quite but you get the picture).

You might want to start posting those hands in the analysis section becuase it might not be your opponents if you are overplaying KK's for instance.

I have gotten into these following tourneys via freeroll winnings on other sites, carbons 20k, cakes 100k, and bodogs 100k. Lately I want to get into some larger tourneys. So now I have been playing mainly at stars, to try to get into their 1.5m. Its been two weeks now, and alot of freerolls.

The thing I hate about stars, is their card generator. It doesnt favor good hands like AK ect. Instead I find myself winning with crap like Q9 suited or 67 off suit. I started playing tight like I usually do, but hands like AK or AQ just wont flop. I call all in with KK only to lose to 78 suited.

Do you think they change their random card generator to favor this crap? No, its just too many people playing lol. Pokerstars does the most advertising, and thanks to moneymaker everyone comes there. They have deposits as low as $10, and take echecks and money orders. They also have withdrawl by check with a limit of $50 with no fees.

They have huge tourneys for cheap, such as the 200k for $11. Last night I played a 25 cent buy in that had so many users in it that the prize pool was up to $800.

Anyway, my goal is to win my way to the 1.5m without ever making a deposit. Pokerstars is a good site if you want huge payouts, but be prepared to play sometimes tens of thousands of players lol.

Thats some good advice, I will start doing that when I get what I think is a crappy beat. Thanks!

PS

I'm from the US too, and have NEVER had a problem depositing right from my bank account or debit card! It's the amount of players they have that is a drag---at least at their FRs. The cash games are 'bout the same as anywhere else, though. And their support staff IS reallyreally good, too, though! I really messed up a money transfer there and they fixed it the very next day!! The biggest problem I have there though, is I can't seem to keep a positive ROI! BUT, that's not PS fault!! It's ME!

Yeah, some dont like PokerStars cause of the mass of people....I always tell people no ONE poker site is the right one for every player

But its no question it is number one due to

Customer Support
Reliability (they go down every once in a while, but when they do, they have a quick efficient refund process and you dont have to beg them for your money back like some)
Massive Game Selection
Responsive Security

In My Opinion they go much further than any other site to cater to the Poker Player

They have a lot of deposit options, and try to roll out more to cater to US Players, but being the largest means having the GOVT close down the ones you open up as quick as they try to get one going.....

If you get money on one site...there are ways to get money transfered around to PokerStars and other sites

OH--Freerolls...This isnt the number one site to join if you are looking to play just freerolls...just too many people to get through

I think they have the best platform. The lobby and room layouts are really nice and intuitive. It is very fast and seems to be very stable. I also agree that the micro stakes are very good and offer those with lower bankrolls a lot more options. Over all I find it to be the best site to play on. The freerolls are only down side the way they set it up as a 2 stage/tournament payout. Overall tho, I think they do have the best at this point.

I've never had a problem with depositing funds into pokerstars and their customer support is great. For instance, one time I got entered into an omaha H/L tourney when I really didn't know how to play the game and the buy in sucked up my whole bankroll. I know for a fact I didn't enter it and when I was waiting for a low level sng to start, the table for that tourney popped up. I emailed support and even though they had no explanation on why I was entered into it, they refunded my money back as long as I just sat out the whole time.

But as far as the poker is involved, it was nothing but constant suckouts. I felt that a lot of the players were really bad and I would consistently get in the pot way ahead to only get beat. The last hand I played on Pstars was in the $10 rebuy tourney and I had just made it to the money and was in fifth place. I ended up going all in preflop against the chip leader with AA and even though I hit my 3rd A on the flop, the guy hit runner K's to knock me out. That hand would have put me in the chip lead by half over the second place guy and the guy who sucked out the pot ended up using that hand to cruise all the way to the final table and won the tourney. This was the last straw after a 3 day stretch where I had flopped quad aces beat in an omaha cash game by someone who hit runner cards to hit a royal.

The constant suckouts really made it not a fun place to play and really started screwing with the way I like to play. If you have good luck, I would recommend it because players are always going in with garbage and wishing for the best.

A good thing about Pokerstars is that once I signed in and I look into my cashier account and mysteriously i have 5 dollars in the real money account soI looked into my email adress and it informd me that pokerstars gave out 5 dollars for people to try out the cash games of course it also gave youthe option to cash out but I really wanted to play a cash game I play and play and I finally just grinded people and won 4 more dolars and I had 9 dollars into total I was playing against this noob and I had Pocket 9's and I didn't know what he had and I raised before the flop to 50 cent and he reraise to 150 and then i raised again and he raised me all in and I it turn out that he had pocket 3's and i was totally dominating him because he only had two outs with two poeple playing a full deck hold'em style and guess what he got a 3 on the turn i was so pissed although i didn't show it.
