pokerstars was hit with a fine after the
New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement found out that they were allowing sports betting on in state college teams, when In NEW JERSEY there is strict ban on sports betting on NJ state college teams. (Sports books are not allowed to gamble on NJ college sports teams)

What are your opinions ?

I don't think 10,000 dollar will affect PS in anyway.
I bet they make that in an hour or so.

Very true but it might put a dent in their reputation in them trying to get a license and legalized in all states. They just put in for another application for approval for online legal gambling and this might delay the process. I know as far as PA they already have a set launch date as of July 15th but the other states hearing dates, during those meetings they might have a lack of trust once again but let’s hope for the best and the gaming commission in other states will hopefully let this one go.

poker stars has enough lawyers to find cracks in any legislation. Winning a battle like this will lose any wars in the future so I'm sure they will do all that is legally necessary to comply.

What to say? For violation of the law must be paid.
$10,000 is nothing to the PokerStars.

I think the laws must be respected and it seems to me that this change had no impact on the reputation of the PokerStars

I live in Canada, so Pokerstars seems like the best site option.

I think pokerstars is the best site as well and I can wait for them to launch on July 15th in PA I honestly think this was an honest mistake but they do have to be more careful.

Revenue: 1.3 billion USD (2017)

As a Canadian, I feel much more comfortable with pokerstars knowing that it's owned by a Canadian company

$10.000 , or $5000 , is just one more Saturday freeroll payout :D for PokerStars , this is not serious money for them .But still , a fine is a fine and it's not good .
As for the reputation part , I hope everything goes right for PS and it doesn't affect the pokerrom's plans in the state , it was a mistake and they fixed it instantly , so no reason for accusations :)Maybe as the article says , this incident might have as a result the overseeing sportsbetting commitee of the state to increase the fines in the future (after some same occurences that happened in the past ) :).

The fine is purposely low because it really doesn't matter. I don't think it will affect future legislation in other states

they had to earn 10 times more than this amount at least thanks to his bets. for them this fine is not really a big loss.

Million collects this business, and 10 thousand fines - profitable ... What a reputation when money flows like a rive

Unfortunately, PokerStars has a duty to comply with the law regardless of their opinions on it - and I think that's a good thing (imagine if a company were allowed to break laws just because they didn't feel like following them). I think it may also be of benefit to the players that sports betting is not allowed on college games - there aren't professionals (yet) and knowing that somebody - be it a sensible gambler or not - has money riding on your performance might be a little much. The fine, $10,000, is clearly representative of what the judge actually thinks about PokerStars' breach - and I see the small amount as a sign that attitudes towards sports betting online are changing.

Well, sounds like someone screwed up and forgot to remove those teams. Not like it really hurts the bottom line though.

PokerStars College Sports Betting

It should be understood that college players could be and have been suaded by dollars. Although that goes on and it is against the New Jersey law to have that go on, logic says, that does not slow down the people wishing to do that anyway.

For Pokerstars, the fine is small. For Americans wishing to play online poker events, the price may be huge. That occurring gives politicians and law folks more persuasive power to further eliminate any type of online gambling.

Very sad for all of us.
