Hi,

I just curious how they are overconfident in putting "guaranteed" prize pool? how if so many gtd tourney would not reach expected number of players, are they using bots to trick it?

for regular tourneys i guess they know how many normally register each week and therefore they would expect that number to register again and base the guarantee on that number entering.

Exactly. They ALWAYS reach their GTD prize pot. So in my opninion, calling it a GTD prize pot, is a great marketing trick (and they are the best at that!) for getting a lot of people to register.
As a matter of fact, when they see the prize pot is not reached for a couple of days/weeks in a row, they will remove it from their lobby. But again, this is rare.

A month ago they had a glitch in the late reg process and registration closed on the Sunday Warm-Up before it could fill up.
The early reggers played the rest of the game with a massive 260k overlay. That probably won't happen very often (or ever again)

They test most of them before adding the guarantees - they always make them less than what they think it could be and rarely have to add money to them.

They already know how many players are gonna be playing. On FullTilt though, if tournament doesn't reach players so they would reach the guaranteed prize, the tournament simply gets cancelled and buyins refunded. Only experienced this on a satellite.

satellites work differently as the would offer a set for every x$ or fpps in the prize pool. Its not a guaranteed tournament

It's stars, they have the traffic and most of their gtd games smash the amount set usually by like 50% in regards to general big and bigger and hot etc games. Big gtd attract more people and more people make even bigger prizepools which then attract more people :D

This usually only happens if it doesn't reach the min entrants, not because of meeting a gtd. FTP is a site that often you can get overlay in tournies, not always and not usually much but it happens. I have seen on a few occassions even the raptor has an overlay but FTP being in the stage of trying to regain traffic it still runs them.....although their new multi day1 tournies to a day2 on sundays were smashing the gtd amounts originally set.

I enjoy FTP although traffic is an issue, micro cash games barely run any tables outside of rush anymore but its nice to have an option of small field mtt's that do sometimes have overlay.

I think its depend on the timing itself.Maybe during peak time they can offer a better prize and guaranteed tournament. Also it depend also on how long the registration time is extended.IMO the best place to play any tournament are on Pokerstar.Good luck at the table.

The pretty colours like (Guarantee) (Hot 55) make it all the more attractive too.

Love these Tourneys even if they do run over the pool.

At pokerstars, with experience of more than 15 years in poker environnement, they can have an approximation on how many players will play each tournament throught the day and the year, so they fix the guarantie price pool to approximatively 75%-80% of the price pool pré-calculated.

They know what they doing... That's why they have the biggest tournaments
