pokerstars freerolls are insane. I played one where there was 11,559 players! In one hour, it was down to less than 5,000. That's more than half! I actually lasted quite a long time. I placed 100th place and lost with Pocket Aces against Pocket Fours. I lost to a straight and to add insult to injury, an Ace came up on the river. I played for 4 hours. This freeroll was actually a qualifier for another tournament. So all that work you do is just an entry to another tournament. Don't ask me why I entered in the first place. Bored, I guess. Sorry, I needed to vent.

i used to play those;
they have freerolls that are qualifiers to other freerolls with money added
definitely very tough
good job on the placing though unfortunate how you busted.

i don't know how long you've been playing on stars, but they actually used to be worse, i think it was a 6000 max, but only the final table qualified, and the 2nd round tournie had a much smaller prise pool. If you play there a lot, try their FPP freerolls. i think they have 50 and 200 FPP buy in ones with like $200 and $1000 prize pools respectivly paying out to the final table. they're limit, but they're a little better at least. and with their new VIP program, they have even better ones, i think, but you have to earn at least 1000 FPP's a month to qualify for them

Why did I post this on the Cardschat freeroll forum? I should have put this either in the Poker General or Playing poker forum. Moderators take note.

I like these freerolls. I play in them even when I have money on there. Yes they can be a nerve racking pain in the ass, but they give out tourney leader board points to the top 15% of the field. If by some odd chance you make it to the second round and get in the money, they don't give you any crap about what you do with it. Even if you have never made a deposit you can play, transfer, and with drawl with a little dignity. Just one more of the thousands of reasons I love to play at Stars.

I play these quite frequently on the weekend when I don't have to wake up at 6:00 am the next day. There is a max of 10,000, which there usually is. It usually takes about 3 hours to get to the top 100. The top 27 now make it into the weekly tourney.

When I first started playing at Stars, winning one of these things was a mini obsession. I even had a competition with a family member to see who one it first. Not sure how many I tried ( too many I think) and the best I finished was 44th ( I think, or close to that). Haven't tried one in a while, maybe I'll give it another shot sometime soon.

I just finished playing a Poker Stars freeroll, and place 187th out of 10,987 people! That's the best I've placed in a freeroll that large. There were so many donks there though. People going all-in with 3, 9 offsuit. When they don't hit anything on the river, they should fold and STOP CALLING! I'm venting, I'm venting. Bad beat to take me out, I had a straight, Ace to 10, and I lost to a royal flush! It stung so badly!
