Why do players at pokerstars who get disconnected get so much time added? A player who almost timed out disconnected and got an extra 90 seconds added. With blinds increasing in a tournament, I don't want to wait 90 seconds every time this player with a bad connection is up.

If you watch over a longer period, it seems the disconnect period is linked to the particular player. If it is a regular thing with them, the time is much shorter. A lot of players do not START with 90 seconds every time, afaik.

In addition, Pokerstars will sometimes stop the game clock for the extra time added for the player's disconnect clock. I was in one the other night where the amount of time the game had been going for was different than how many mins of each blind level we had (10 min blinds, but after 43 mins went by we were still on the 3rd blind level) The guy said he had wireless connect issues but after the first 45 second clock they gave him 15 each hand, for each decision. Gets rediculous, but if/when it happens to you from a power outage or computer issues, you'll be glad they do it.

Well, the scenario I was referring to was a big MTT, so I'm sure that the game clock wasn't stopped.
