Impossible that you never formulated a 'Conspiracy Theory' about the PokerStars/Rational Group.

I believe that Pokerstars looks for a "type" of player, analyzes their moves and generates a ranking (black box? jajajaja The PokerStars Conspiracy Theory

). From this ranking, it generates extra benefits to the player. It may sound stupid (and it should be).

I confirm poker star analyzes your performance and your style of play at the start of the game. if you live up to those expectations. you will have better hands in the middle and end of the game. as well as several other advantages including hitting a lot of the flop. otherwise. you will only be entitled to 27 or 26 style hands and when you are lucky enough to hit a good hand preflop it will be to find yourself facing an opponent who AA or KK.

Hi! I don't know if it's a conspiracy theory, but I think the software is flawed. Anyone can check it out. If one receives a pair of 88 for example, it is very, very certain that in the rest of the table there will be another pair, or of jacks, or of 4, or of aces. And there is always a tendency to favor the chip leader. The percentages of probabilities that the software gives before the turn and the river are unreal ... Stars does appear to deliver the unlikely at times, but for me ACR is by far the worst. I would say the majority of the time I am dealt a strong hand that aces are out there, eg. small blind on big blind AQs and big blind has AA. I would like to go through hand histories because this keeps happening.

I played one of my local live games last night, it's pretty good- always at least five or six tables so pretty decent money up top.

I've won before and cashed multiple times, they also run royal flush and straight flush jackpots (I won the latter with the spade wheel once [which I gutshotted on the river to beat a turned full house]) too..

Last night my AA lost to 77 (all-in on flop and he caught the gutshot on turn) and my QQ lost to 36o (all-in pre and slightly unorthodox opponent hits 6 on flop and 3 on turn).

Needless to say, I didn't cash running like that.

However, these things happen in all games of poker, live and online- not just at Stars, ACR or any other platform/table.

So while it might seem that the programming is against you sometimes, it isn't.

It's not personal, it just cold, hard, mathematical probability- which doesn't give a hoot who you are, or what you had preflop.

However, in the interest of keeping things on topic with the OP's premise....

Stars have house bots which are entered into every MTT, treated favourably by the RNG programming and one of these bots always places somewhere in the top 15.

Sometimes 1st. Sometimes 15th. Sometimes somewhere in between. Always massively boosting Stars rake.

Completely indistinguishable from any other player because they use enough separate bots to keep the win rates feasible.

As this results in every player, in every MTT, being cheated- needless to say it's a huge scandal when it eventually comes out because some clown fell asleep at his desk while viewing these things working away and someone out of the loop stumbled across.

Massive lawsuit payouts all round.

in my opinion i tend to see them giving preference to the non aggressor and small stacks. aggressor all in with aa gets called by j4 off j fills a straight and this is a pre flop example, but it also helps me to guess my way thru wen i think about it

So many conspiracy theorists. Didn't Ultimate Bet ultimately die or go bankrupt because an insider or programmer had the ability to see his opponents hole cards? I do not believe that top poker sites such as Poker Stars would risk the value of their poker site by cheating players or rigging hands. All it would take is one fired unhappy employee to blow the lid on something like that and poof.....they cease to exist.

I think you're on to something. But you're not thinking big enough. Not near enough.

PS is part of an intergalatic energy extraction consortium lead by a many-tentacled race of super-hyper visualisation beings.

But you have their motives wrong. They do not care about little bits of green paper called money (or it digital equivalent). i doubt it because i have watch where players with law buy ins win big, so ill say its decision making all poker hands can be beat dont think AA KK QQ or AK AQ cant be beat our mentality is that we can dominate remember its poker take information at the tables about the players youre playing

I've defended Stars forever, but I'm over doing that.

Seen terrible play get rewarded there day in, day out for years.

When I think back on all the absolute BS I've seen, again, day in, day out- I think I'm an absolute sucker to have blindly put my faith in and trusted Stars this long.

I'm an idiot!

They're a globalising corporation just like any other and their shareholders and fat cat suits are just as greedy and susceptible to the flaws in human nature as anyone else.

It's not a straight game.

The penny dropped for me last night when I was able to correctly predict the river before it hit.

I lost with KK v KJo (runner-runner jacks), the frequency I've lost in situations like this on Stars is simply RIDICULOUS. It bears no resemblance to what you would expect from the probability.

That wasn't the river I predicted, that came a hand or two later, when it goes all-in preflop...

I have 10,10 and am against 9,9 and 5,5..

There is a nine on the flop, I glance at the players' stacks and realise that I have the nines covered, but not the fives. It's at that moment I predict the five river (the turn hasn't fallen yet) and sure enough, blank turn- river five.

Overpair Vs underpair and losing is one thing but, overpair Vs underpair Vs underpair and losing to both is quite another. Getting two outered twice on the same board, lolol...

Funny thing is, I remember that kind of thing happening to me frequently in the past too.

I understand what cognitive bias means.

I've been telling myself "don't worry it's just hands per hour and cognitive bias" for years.

Not any more.

I withdrew my BR from Stars last night and will only be playing CC freerolls there for fun from now on.

I don't know what is going on at Stars, but I am a withdrawing player who hasn't deposited fluff all in a long time.

Guess they don't like that.

I'm happy to follow DNegs to GG and intend to do so but I don't think they have mobile apps for their platform yet...

GG poker do have a mobile app, quite good one at that tbf. At least they do on Android so I would assume they do for iPhone as well.

I play on all of the major sites, now with the exception of Party Poker as they decided not to renew their license in Panama as of Aug 31 2020. Verification of my documents is slow but I digress. That is a story for another time.

What we are all experiencing is the nature of this game. You are never an astronomical favorite in this game where you are constantly pushing small edges. 80% means the opponent has a 1 in 5 chance of winning. 90% equates to a 1 in 10 for villain, 95% is a 1in 20 shot.

Its the same across all sites. Wherever you spend more time you are going to suffer more strange things. Try smaller fields in smaller tournaments. The more hands you play the more you are going to brush up against the odds.

I am more concerned that someone is using a virtual machine to play GTO against me than I am of the site cheating. This is just going to get worse going forward. If the site is not preventing this, there is no future in playing there. .

Oh and on that note, I've noticed lag spikes before the magical rivers hit.

i think exactly opposite. i tend to believe in conspiracy theories (ok, not to the limit to believe in flat earth) but i don't believe in poker conspiracy.

I'm just going to keep on being one of those who blindly puts faith in the site.

I've been 1-outtered on more than one occasion. Yup imagine flopped quads losing to a rivered straight flush!
This past weekend I got it in great while deep'ish' in a tournament KK vs A9s (A9s?? WTF dude!! really? .... it was a bit of ICM suicide on their part imo at the time... but this is still a good thing for me... I mean it's not a satty & I need to acquire chips when I can). I turn K & river another K for quads!! Yes!!!!! (wonder if he quit Stars that day?).

I personally don't understand the thinking behind quitting a site due to variance and I also don't understand how players would think the site is rewarding one player over another in what... a $10 tournament? Why would they do that?

Poker is poker. It is normal. If the crazy sh1t didn't happen, I'd be more concerned tbh.

One thing I don't hear is.. HSMTT players quitting sites because it's rigged. Never. Not even once. I haven't even heard of any regulars quitting a site because it's rigged. Not even one.

Depending upon what game(s) you're playing, it might actually be better to play on other sites aside from Stars. (rake is high on Stars in some games & close to zero rewards program). BUT they do have the best series on there, the largest number of players, the biggest game selection, the best software, etc. etc. etc. Maybe not for long (I hope) as they finally have some competition. (PP & GG)

Such theories appear in players after major losses and moves on the river. Don't try to explain the actions of others. Inexplicable things happen sooner or later without any theory of conspiracy.

I have the same observation in almost all poker rooms.

It's just too often that probabilities of events happening are unreal. A different kind of math seems to be at work in online poker than in live poker.

Still, we play on right?

Thinking about it, I may have downloaded the android app from their website not the play store. It is not browser based but I guess their app just isn't on the play store yet.

Why would Pokerstars rig the software ? They are a casino site.

Think about it, they earn millions of dollars in rake in poker and casino games.

They don't need to cheat, Pokerstars is a money machine for the owners due to the high traffic!

So no , its not rigged, bad runs happens to us all.

However what they do is to analyze you as a player to find out which reward system you belong (chests and all that).
