I joined PokerStars.com a year or so ago and I play there some. Recently, I got a good friend talked into playing some on-line poker and to register at pokerstars. And, he did. However, it seems that when he signed up, it was at PokerStars.net versus pokerstars.com. When trying to get him familiar with the site is when we realized that he was not seeing the same tournaments and displays as I was seeing on my screen.

Can someone explain what the difference is between the two sites.
And, if possible, what must be done for us to be able to access the same tournaments. Will it be necessary for him to download PokerStars.com or for me to download PokerStars.net OR is this even allowed?

Thanks, Wally

Pokerstars.net was (is) the promotional site for pokerstars while pokerstars.com is the one you will want to go too :) plus i do not believe you can put up a fancy avatar in the .net part of pokerstars but only in the .com version of pokerstars. Correct me if im wrong somebody.

.com is the Pokerstars 'real money' site.

.net is the Pokerstars 'play money' site.

Either one of you can download the other site you do not have. No harm, no foul. You use the same user ID and PW to log-in.

If you notice ... on U.S. TV ads you always see Pokerstars.net material .... since that is the 'free to play' site.

Don't know about the avatars, but since it is the same user ID required on both sites (.net/.com) the same "2 avatar limit" would apply to both sites. Any attempt to change it twice will require approval from Stars' support. Choose wisely the first time.

You would see the same play money tournaments and games, yor friend would not see any cash tables or tournaments. If you have ever noticed while playing a freeroll at Pokerstars someone has a small white star above their picture, that tells you they are playing through .net

Same is true for fulltiltpoker.net vs. com. I'd suggesting uninstalling the .net first, then re-install though the .com website.

I always opt not to have avatars ... they pile up on the harddrive.
