Found this:

Hi,

PokerStars has agreements with thousands of third-party websites (‘affiliates’) to market our services to new players and encourage them to play at PokerStars. PokerStars routinely reviews its agreements with these affiliates to ensure that they are productive for the company. Earlier this week, PokerStars ended the agreements with a very small number of affiliates who were not recruiting many new players, and who were doing little active promotion of our services.

Sincerely,

Michael Josem

I think this may be a good opportunity for Cardschat or other affiliates who are active in marketing poker stars. If it was me I would contact my Poker Stars rep and see if they would offer up a list of dormant accounts that they are reclaiming as house accounts.
It will cost Poker Stars nothing since the dormant accounts are not generating rake for them and it would give you the opportunity to market to someone that has played there before and left for some reason.
This is how things work in the insurance and financial planning industries.
I would be interested as to what the management here thinks of my input?

At some of the forum to write about it :

"Some former partners of the poker room, convinced that noncooperation is associated with the policy of Amaya Gaming (new owner, who bought the PokerStars and full tilt poker). Because Amaya Gaming wants to go out with a semi-legal markets, it is forced to cut costs."

In short PokerStars wants to enter the market countries and be full legally, that was all clean...

Pokerstars would never agree to do that - if they wanted to pay someone for those accounts they would have left them where they are. You are misunderstanding why they did it.

I figured as much but it doesn't hurt to suggest it.
I have to agree with their policy to eliminate the ones that are no longer aiding them though. Personally I have no idea where my Poker Stars account is linked. Probably to some forum that is no longer in business but there is a possibility it is here since I opened it in 2005 and joined here in 2005. I hope it is.

I'm not sure how you come to this conclusion. Affiliates were cut according to PS for underperforming. There is quite a stir on the net that they were cut because they had many performing old-timers and by cutting those affiliates out they now keep those payouts in house, hence increasing the profitability for all the new Amaya Gaming (AMYGF) stockholders pleasure and benefits.

It's business. Does it suck for those affiliates that were unceremoniously beheaded? Yes, very much indeed. Does it make Amaya stronger to pursue new venues such as an emerging USA market? Yes.
