Somebody had asked about this and they have released the details now:

http://www.pokerstars.com/vip/2010changes/

This is so much better for little ol' me! I can finally get promoted from aluminum level lol.

It hardly seems worth it to play 10 tables day in and day out for a lousy $1,000 bonus if you ask me....lol

As from January 1, 2010, players will need to reach 250 VPPs in order to
qualify to be paid CPA. Due to changes to our VIP program we expect to see
an increase in player activity and thus an increased likelihood of players
reaching 250 VPPs. If you are bringing in quality players, then this should
not affect you. This change will apply to all players that you have signed
up in the past who have not yet been paid for; not just those who sign up
from January 1, 2010. The payout levels will remain the same.

Stellar Rewards

Along with the changes to our VIP Program, from January 1, 2010 pokerstars
will be introducing Stellar Rewards. The rewards are a series of 19 cash
incentives that are gained by earning VPPs over the calendar year.

There are three different cash amounts:

• $10 – available at (750, 1.5k, 2.25k, 3k, 4k & 5k Yearly VPPs)
• $50 – available at (10k, 15k, 20k, 25k, 30k, 35k, 40k & 45k Yearly VPPs)
• $100 – available at (50k, 60k, 70k, 80k & 90k Yearly VPPs)
A player that reaches 90k Yearly VPPs in 2010 will earn the maximum of
$1,000.

Silverstar is gonna be way easy to get now, so me grinding out the remaining 300 VPP I need is just a waste of time. Guess I will take a break and start fresh on Jan. 1st!

The stellar programs is like 6% rackback, each of the stellar bonuses only costs 1fpp so u still have all the FPPs to buy there quartarly instant cash bonuses or there standard bonuses u need to clear.
All in all i think most of the changes are good, its makes going nova alot easier for the lower stake cash game players and makes it alot easier for MTT/STT players to get fpps.

Poker Stars has Changed the VIP Rewards

In 2010, you can achieve Silver Elite status at 750 VPP's.

Also, they have the new Stellar Rewards with cash bonuses.

I love the new bonuses. Should be easy to compete for, and the quarterly freerolls are awesome.

Amen! I am happy - I have written to Pokerstars a couple of times with suggestions along these lines never thinking it would actually happen.

I think ill be moving to stars next year since I wont be getting rakeback at FT/didnt receive an invite for their alternative rakeback program.

I actually like the sound of these changes for the lower volume players!

I also got denied rakeback at Tilt, so I will check out the new system at Stars. Sounds like a change for the better for micro players like me. I also noticed some new freerolls on Stars, which I've never seen before. Nice to see that, but at 1st glance I thought there were 15,000 entrants. That's a lot! After looking closer, I saw it was 150,000. Are you kidding me?

I've held silverstar status most of the year and have come very close on a few occassions to hitting gold star. (I lost my silver for just a couple of months for not playing often that month due to other obligations).

Anyways, I'm looking forward to these changes and hopeful that I'll finally hit goldstar!

Well -it turns out they have actually decreased the VPP's you earn for the game I play - $5.50 sng's. I currently earn 3 VPP's for each one - effective Jan I will only earn 2.75.

It is still a better deal - I had to play 416 sng's to earn silverstar status this year and next year I will only have to play 272 which is very reasonable.

The stellar rewards should attract the more casual players.
