Hi guys,

I'll just cut straight to the chase.

I won 9000usd on pokerstars a few days ago, and am wanting to cash it out.

After a few failed attempts they emailed me saying I need to send them a scanned copy of my Passport and proof of address in order for me to cash out.

After doing this, I just received an email saying that is has come to their attention that I had played at pokerstars whilst underage. The email then says I must reply saying "I have read and understood the TOS at pokerstars"

I am 24 years old, So I find it really funny that once I win a big amount and try to withdraw it they come to me with this nonsense.

Anyone got any advice?
thanks

Did you reply saying that you have read and understand the ToS? I'm sure you'll get your $$s (and likely even keep your account) but what they are saying is that when you originally agreed to their ToS you were not of legal age to do so.

And what is now with your account, you can logged or get frozen ?

I think you should not worry and PS return the money to you, because you have earned it when you've been full age...

You just have to re-confirm the conditions PokerStars... And please write here when the situation will be resolved in order to know how it ended

Yes, I replied to them saying I have read, understood and will comply.

I can still log into my account, but I cannot play any games, I was in a tournament at the time then a message popped up saying my account has been revoked.

The thing is, I never actually play real money games whilst underage.
I used to let my father play on my account as he never had his own account at that time.

They also state this in the email.

Once we have received your email, we will review your account for possible reinstatement. Please bear in mind that in case of a possible future breach of our Terms of Service, we will take this previous breach into consideration when determining what action to take. It may, of course, lead to you being permanently banned from PokerStars.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation

Doesn't really matter. All they know is that when their terms were originally agreed to it was by someone below the age of majority. I wouldn't use the "my Dad played" excuse and add multiple players on one account to your issues.

Yea - agree with WVH. Sounds like they are probably going to let you keep your account - no point in pissing them off with the "story" about your dad - nobody is falling for that. ;)

There is nothing strange at all about the timing - accounts are always verified for withdrawals.

It also should not be a problem, it is important that you are now an adult, and when you were underage you do not make deposits and not withdraw money...

I think they will understand that you were still very young and made a mistake irresponsible..

funds are only really seized if you cheat, i.e. collusion or being underage at the time

I understand that but I just worry that because I had this account when I was underage, that they may come back to me and say "look you breached our terms of services" we have to seize these funds, or some sort...

worrying won't do any good, most likely it will be fine, stars doesn't have a reputation for deliberately screwing people.

according to pokerstars rules , yes you have violetted the rule then by stating you are over 18 , while you were underage still.

but i do hope you will get your Money and your account will be active again.. yes , they ve confiscated a case like from another account of scandivian Person who was underage n won 140k on sm and his whole Money was confiscated..

wish you good luck

You made a bad comparison because that player who won SM was only 17 years old.. In this situation, is correct that confiscated all funds because on PokerStars could to sue that they attract underage players..

Matty have a another problem, he won the money when it is already's legal age to play poker, reason not to give money to practically no...

Legally they have the right to give you nothing as you broke their TOC's

Morally they should give you the money as when you deposited Im assuming you was over 18. If it was a problem that you opened an account underage they should have said something then.

Either way dont bring your Dad into it. Best thing if your dad really wanted to play was let him open his own account at the time then you could have played in his for real money and withdrawla wouldnt be a problem :)

Sorry but i think that "my Dad played" wouldn't be the excuse if you opened that account when you were underage

I really want to know this situation ended as well. I really want to believe Stars will give you your money to uphold their rep. However I'm worried that they might be dealing with some legal issues. Best of luck!
