PokerStars has announced the schedule for the World Championship of Online Poker, and satellites are already underway with buy-ins starting at less that $1.00.
With $40 million in guaranteed prizes across 66 events, 2014 will mark the first year that pokerstars will offer a cards-down webcast of the final table of the $10 Million Guarantee Main Event, headlined by James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton, along with the help of Team PokerStars Pros. In addition to the vast array of games, tournaments, and formats that is customary of all WCOOP events, there are six Progressive Super-Knockout events, as well as a variety of new game variants. THE PROTÉGÉ
As we posted about last month, players for the first time have the chance to win training from Team PokerStars Pros (Andre Akkari, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov and Vanessa Selbst), and receive buy-ins to three events, including the $5,200 Main Event. The public vote to see who gets chosen to become the four protégés will begin on August 15. Check out the PokerStars.net Facebook page starting August 15 for more information and how to vote.
WCOOP players have even more chances to win big prizes (in addition to the prize pool guarantees). All players that cash in any WCOOP event will earn points toward the "Player of the Series" ranking. For full details, including the prizes up for grabs for Player of the Series, click here.
