I just got an email from pokershare.com saying they were closing my account because they were changing their policy to no longer allow North American players. Just wondering if anyone on this continent who had an account there did not have it closed. Also if anyone want's to specualate as to why they made this change. The buzz i've been hearing suggests that UB was annoyed that pokershare was stealing so many of their members. seems like they should have thought ahead i guess. I don't know. i wasn't really playing there yet anyway, but i would have eventually, so it kind of sucks, as it seemed like a promicing site.

I guess its because Americans are not legally allowed to play at sites unless they are based on certain islands. They probably took some legal heat and decided that its not worth it to keep us on board.

i don't know, but i kind of hope that's not the reason. by that logic why don't all the other sites follow suit? something smells fishy to me. i hope it doesn't become a trend.

Well discovered last week that Paddy Power poker does not allow americans either, they figure that its illegal. I posted about this somewhere last week. Paddy Power regularly has 8-10K people logged on.

I had about $70 bucks there and it was a site I used regularly. Supposedly my check is in the mail but I'm not holding my breath. I suspect the SEC may have got involved as they had a quasi profit sharing scheme set up. A warning, and allowing me to get my money out with neteller would have been nice and I emailed them in this regard...

It does seem odd that they're using the mail to send back people's money, though from what i've heard people with really large bankrolls were getting refunds on neteller. don't worry, i think you'll get your money back. again, i hope it wasn't the SEC, or what's to stop them from coming down on everybody? from the speculation i've been heaing, it had more to do with UB complaining to their parent company Excapsa about the loss of their North American market share. it's still pretty weak in my opinion, but that's buisness. pokershare is supposedly trying to get this decision reversed, but UB will never back down. they built the network and they want to keep it. Again, those aren't 'facts', just what i've been hearing

Yeah, UB allow their players to make new accts on PShare, then whine to Excapsa about it when their number of players mysteriously drops. DURRR.

Dumbasses. UB suck anyway, the software is crap, and now it appears it's been confirmed that they're morons who couldn't run a piss-up at a brewery too. I stopped playing there a few months ago.

I have sendt Pokershare a letter in this matter. You can read it on my blogsite. Let's wait and see what they officially say.

as far as i can tell, in most of the statements they've made, they basically haven't said anything. so good luck getting any answers out of them, the way they've been dodging questions

Ok, kind of admiting internal trouble. Pokershare close temporary from the 14th. Let's see when they are back, and in what shape and form?

Because, like I said, most sites are based on islands where it is legal for US players to gamble.

yeah, you're right. i guess i didn't exactly read your post right, though i am fairly ignorant of such things anyway...

and i just wanted to add, for those of you who are interested, i got an email from them a couple days ago....

Dear Nathaniel,
I am sorry to have to inform you that as of 1st November 2005, Game Theory Limited, our licensor, has closed the accounts of all North American customers that play on PokerShare.com.
We are in dispute with Game Theory Limited and its parent company Excapsa. We do not accept that the license has been validly terminated and our lawyers are currently reviewing the position.
We would like to thank you for your support so far, we send our sincere apologies for any inconveniences you have suffered and we will keep you informed of all future developments.
Kind regards
PokerShare.com

still don't see how anyone will ever trust them again, even if they do get it reversed
