I have never deposited and am Bronze. It takes 'cash' play of some kind. This is from the VIP details on Star's site:
"The first level in the VIP Club, BronzeStar, is your stepping stone to valuable rewards and benefits. You become a BronzeStar VIP from the moment you play your first qualified real money
cash ring game or tournament."
You do not have to be active in a hand to earn points. Even if you fold your hole cards preflop, you earn points if the hand produces at least $.40 in rake. The only way you do not receive point/s in a cash game is if you are sitting out or the rake does not reach 40 cents.
