Hey all,

So I recently downloaded pokerstars. I haven't played on poker stars since black Friday since I am in the United States. Anyway, I used my old log in information and to my surprise I was logged in. However, I now have a new username....it used to be KingCurtis67 now it is FRA-10TII. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if PokerStars just randomly assigns a name to U.S. players?

I really doubt that. There are quite a few long time members from the US playing in CC special events and the CC league. Their names are still the same as they were before black Friday afaik.

I am not sure how it happened. I am going to email PokerStars and will update here. My username was always KingCurtis67 and it is no longer that...

Just emailed support. I am starting to wonder if maybe it was an older email I used to log in. However, why would I have made 2 accounts and even more so why would I choose that as a username when I don't know what that even means or have ever used that username before?

So it looks like I did at some point create an account with the email I have been trying to use? Still don't understand where the username came from though?!!! I seriously would never choose that as a username...

Here is the email they sent:

Actually renaming inactive accounts isn't that uncommon for online games.

For example, I played "World of Tanks" for quite a while. There were numerous old accounts with "good" nicknames, and these accounts hadn't been used like from the start. So some time ago Wargaming announced that it'll rename such accounts by assigning some random nicknames (provided that account didn't have premium currency or premium tanks as I remember; premium means bought with real money). As a result those "good" nicknames were made available for active players.

Although Wargaming allows players to rename their nicknames for $10 fee but PokerStars doesn't have such feature (so I heard). So it isn't so clear why they renamed your account; I can only assume that there were a big number of US players registered on PS before, and since their business grows pretty fast they decided to put the nicknames from dead accounts to good use.

Probably you registered your account in .COM and .EU and the name for the old one reset.

But they should be able to track your old nickname down and see what happened to it.

Everything is possible at Pokerstars, I even made it, that I got an allowance to change my username, even though it's normally not possible.
